Ok I'm new to this community, and am interested in making a pokemon game in RMXP. I've been using RMXP for awhile now and haven't had problems using tilesets before. The problem is I have a tileset off of deviant art, that is for public use that I want to use, but the background is checkered! So when I try to use the tileset in RMXP I can only set the transparency for one color not both. One tileset is checkered yellow & white, while the other is checkered yellow & orange and i have another checkered yellow & blue, all are for public use. So could you guys help me figure out how to use them, I've looked everywhere... :) If you guys want me to post the tileset I'm using ask and I'll upload it so you can see what i'm talking about.
    -Thanks

This is for the developer of the tileset to help him/her properly position tiles to work for rmxp. There is no way to make multiple transparent or multiple semi-transparent tilesets by conventional means. The only way is to manually go over the checkers and make them into one color that will be the transparent one. Easier options would include using a program such as GIMP. In gimp, select the color of the first checker with the color selection tool, go to the layers tab, then to transparency, and then select color to alpha and choose the color of the checker that you have selected and make it transparent, then do the same thing for the other. Or, just use the color selection tool, select one of the checkered colors, zoom out until you see the entire tileset, then, using the color of the opposite checkered tile, select the pencil tool, use the scale option under the tools, and make the pencil size as large as possible, then just scribble over the whole thing until all of the tiles are the same color. You could also use paint and right click on the color that you want eliminated using the color picker tool, select the whole tileset and then cut it, then change the color of the now blank area to the color of the other tile, and paste the tileset back on, choosing the "transparent selection" option.

You might have to resort to opening them in a picture editor of some sort and changing the background colours so they all match. If you have something more advanced than Microsoft Paint, check and see if it has a colour replacer function. If you don't, try asking whoever originally posted the tiles for a version with a consistent background colour.

Of course, I've never touched RM before, so there might be a way to use these as is. But there's my low-tech solution, anyway.

... Or what the guy above me said while I was posting this. D'oh.
