4th Gen Chimchar! Good pokemon choice

Turtwig and Piplup are awesome. Chimchar is a very noob pokemon.

do you have any proof? no you dont, because thats a matter of opionion. chimchar is in fact, not a noob pokemon. it can completely own both other starters (final evos) as, fire beats grass, and fighting beats steel. itll own sceptile too, but yeah i guess aerodactyl would kill it, considering it has a super advantage against infernape.
i think chimchar is awesome, which is why i picked it. but it died at 14 and it didnt evolve until 15, so i didnt get mach punch. oh well.

All the starters can beat each other in D/P. It is a noob pokemon if you pick it as you first starter.

I was always under the impression that all of the starters are good Pokemon. I mean, obviously some are better than others, but they can all get you far in the game.

None of them are noob Pokemon.

Chimchar has the appeal of a good moveset, eventually learning both Close Combat and Flare Blitz, which should OHKO any pokemon with weaknesses to their corresponding types that doesn't have a very good Defense stat. I think that for hard-hitting moves, it's a great choice.

They are, in the sense that every novice kid will be using every starter they can get their tiny mitts on. I know plenty of kids who use Charizard, Typhlosion, and Blaziken, all in the same battle team. N00bs. >.<

Yeah they(you) are noobs to have 3 fire pokemon in their team.
I never said fire starters were noobs just chimchar.

Yeah it is a Awesome sweeper, but faster pokemon like sceptile and Aerodactyl can easily beat it with is low defenses.

O NOEZ F3AR TEH LLC

Lol, Chimchar is a Pokémon and a very cool one to that. Although I prefer Infernape to Empolean and Torterra, I'm not going to be a fag and slag the other starters to ignite a flamewar. Which is what you are trying to do.

I'm looking forward to utilising my Chimchar in super power mode when I get my English version of DP in June. ^^

Thank God for the informed.

Smartie-kuns is right about everything he/she wrote.

Blaziken is only a *Reversal Poke while Infernape is a Metagame Breaker.

With *Close Combat / *Flamethrower / *Grass Knot it wrecks almost all of the Wallish Types in the game.

Manaphy will still be a problem.

I feel your pain Smartie-kuns. I would be in the torture chamber right now if i couldn't play it yet i knew tons of peeps already were.

By the way ~ I'm Tons of Peeps. <Wink>
Just to clear up any confusin, it's Smarties-kun and I'm male. =P Also, Infernape is more than just a metagame breaker, it's a complete beast. It can even seriously damage many ubers. If you're lucky enough to get a decent Hidden Power [ICE], Rayquaza will hate it, Groudon won't like a Sunny Day boosted Flare Blitz or simply Grass Rope, the latter which Kyogre also fears. Mewtwo won't like a Life Orbed U-turn followed by a proper switch-in, and best of all, Arceus will hate switching in on it. People will most likely use a Psychic or Bug type Arceus which means awesome Flare Blitz or Close Combat goodness depending on its type. <3 Therefore, Infernape is the best new Pokémon in Diamond and Pearl, which naturally means it's one of the most popular Pokémon used in D/P. It's a shame, really, because I want to be original when it comes to team building, but now I have become dependant on two of the most commonly used Pokémon in existence; Infernape and Blissey. Infernape simply because it looks so awesome and Blissey because it's the only special wall that has worked out for me.

And I'm glad someone feels my pain. The only good thing about D/P coming out so late in Europe is that I'll get to play it all day because of the summer holidays. Oh well, I guess I'll start learning more about D/P competitive while I wait. Seems the forum is in need of D/P team raters anyway.

How is Chimchar a noob Pokémon? Is it perhaps because it completely overshadows your beloved Blaziken? ._. Don't get me wrong, I do respect other people's opinions, just not biased once. Could you give me one good reason for why Chimchar is a noob Pokémon? And Infernape is not just a metagame breaker; It's in its completely own class. Infernape has moves for dealing heavy damage on any OU Pokémon and the only thing that prevents the thing from being completely broken is that it has a hard time switching in on anything. I can also imagine Mixape (a mixed attacking Infernape, for those who don't know) becoming quite popular in the uber metagame.

Quite self-explanatory.

But faster Pokémon like Sceptile and Aerodactyl won't like switching in on Infernape with their own low defenses, meaning Infernape will most likely take one Pokémon down and when Aerodactyl comes in, you can just switch in a physical wall. Besides, Sceptile is definitely not an Infernape counter. It has no way of OHKOing Infernape, whereas Infernape can easily beat Sceptile with Close Combat, Flare Blitz, Flamethrower or such.
