Civilization V free weekend

I want to do this but I've heard that once you download one of the free-weekend games on Steam, it stays on your game list until you actually buy it. :( Is this true?

It's also 75% off. Civ 5 is a pretty good game. Not as good as Civ 4, in my opinion. Still, fun times. A good game to play co-op, as well.

I'm trying out the demo this weekend. Agreed that it's not as good. I like the new map style but I hate the interface and still haven't figured out how to contact other civs to trade and whatnot. I love and am so used to Civ 4's interface and gameplay, it's so hard for me to try to get used to 5's.

Still a fun game though. I got super hyped when I saw it free on my games list for the weekend haha.

I'm not sure, but Steam lets you filter your games list and you can choose to only view your installed games if you're so concerned.

Yeah, I know, but it still drives me crazy to see things listed on Steam that don't belong. Civ IV has two copies of each of its games/expansions--one for Mac and one for Windows, no matter which OS you're running--and that always bothers me so much. I think I'd quit the series forever if two copies of it were showing up strangely. :P

I don't have the attention span this weekend to try a game like Civ V but I know so many people who do own it that I'll probably just hijack their computer one day to give it a try.

I do love these free weekends though. It's such a great idea.

They really are genius - it's too bad they don't do more of them. The only games I can remember getting free weekends are Altitude and Civ V - but maybe that's because I'm on a Mac.

And concerning the double copies of Civ IV expansions, I KNOW! I couldn't stand it either. Thankfully the filter Mac Games gets rid of that quite well for me haha.

They've also done free multiplayer weekends for CoD games and I think Tropico 4 had one a few weeks back.

:P The double copies thing is the only reason I use filters in the first place.

Doubt I will buy this as I have civ 4 and to me its a better game, but having the free weekends is great. Love getting to try games before I buy them.

COD has had 2 in about 3 months, for its multiplayer.
