This thread is not funny. Is pretty serious, and has evidence supporting it.
Gen I and II were, oviously, the starters. When Gen III came, it had a whole bunch of new features, like new graphics, pokemons, secret bases, natures and skills.
There was only a major problem: Nothing could go back and forth between II and III. That hurt me pretty bad. I had only a Thyplosion and Suicune, yet I was very attached to them.
We would later have a remake of Gen I, which became highly popular, partially because it was necessary for having full pokédex in RSE. If the communication between Gen II and III was avaliable, FRLG would have way lower sells, as it wasn't necessary for pokédex completing.
Waaay later on, a remake of Gen II would come, with high sells, and again, nothing of Gen II could touch IV, so HGSS was necessary for completing the pokédex.
Later on, Gen V would come. I didn't expect it to be on DS, nor compatible with IV. It, however, was.
And now, not counting BW2, a Sixth Gen will come. A RSE remake will also come, BUT there would be no point in buying the remake if you could transfer the pokémon you had in III all the way to IV. RSE would clash with the remake, ending up with lower sells. There is no way Nintendo/Game Freak could let this happen.
So, with the evidence given, I am sure transfer between Gen V and VI will be blocked. Your dream team will not go to the future, as it will stay in the past.
Enjoy your efforts while they are not obsolete.

Just because they help dex completion doesn't mean it would dramatically lower sales. People would still want to play a updated version of it cause there are visual changes, changes in locations i.e. Battle Frontier & Johto Safari Zone, there is changes in Game play as well. Then there are added features like Follow Me that many people enjoy. And Pokewalker which people seemed to also enjoy which is an extension of the game. So with remakes they add more content and spruce up what they already had so I hardly see how at least for myself that a remake will not be worth buying. I don't see why transfer will be blocked? Just backwards trading like Time Capsule will probably not be allowed. More then likely they will implement what they did with Pal Park & Poke Transfer.

Could it happen? Yes. Is it likely? I'd say probably not. Ever since Gen 4 we've been about to send our Pokemon to the next Gen games. It seems like they want to make sure that we can keep all our older Pokemon we've worked to train for those of us who've been around for a while.

But if any kind of major change in the games happens, we might see another cut-off point. It won't be the end of Pokemon if it happens though, as pointed out by the cut-off between Gen 2 and 3. But, Gen 1 and 2 were connected by trade, and transfer, which is very different. While there will always be a chance of it happening again, I'd say chances are that they will keep allowing us to transfer old teams to new games as long as no major changes to the games, Pokemon, or battles happens.

Gen II and III blockade was, for me, for disabling them and making fans wait for the remakes, and, the remake of RSE meets the requirements of the cut off. It is, for me, the truth.

I feel like Edgeworth bringing bad news, pal.

That's not the truth of it though.

Gen 2 and Gen 3 switched engines and it created an issue with compatibility. The Gameboy Advance couldn't link up with the Gameboy and GameboyColor and the traditional Gameboy Games could not read the link cable that the Gameboy Advance used so the Advance games couldn't trade with the Traditional games.

That's why Gens 1 and 2 weren't compatible with Gens 3 and up which resulted in them getting remade. With everything being Wireless now, the compatibility issue doesn't exist.

A method would have been found. Possibly transfering the plain data of the pokemon, and assigning a random nature, and shuffling between the avaliable skills. If necessary, in events dedicated to this transfer, and, say, 1-6 transfer slots for every trainer, keeping their efforts alive. Maybe even a transfer toll. A dedicated accesory. If they really wanted to, they would have found a way.

As XanderO just said, there was no compatibility because of the differences in the technology, so there was no way to transfer that data. The Nintendo DS had the dual-slot that fixed that, and Gen 4 to 5 transfer was wireless.

So the reason was this easy?....
I anyhow wanted to say that. I needed someone to hear it. It was me who ended up hearing anyway.

Both of you are completely sure. I think I can trust you. Thanks.
Now, if I could, I would change this thread to "Pretor54's vent thread".
Yes, the last statement was a bad joke.

I liked the part where I transfered Pokémon like Lugia, Ho-oh and the Legendary Beasts over from Gen III, thus obtaining them a few years before HG/SS were released.
