Im curious but is there any short term difference in stat gains when a pokemon levels up training with you vs leveling up in the daycare?

Aside the fact that you don't get EV points.

Apart from not gaining EV's, you don't have the control over what attacks the Pokemon learns in Daycare, since the Daycare makes the Pokemon learn the moves by deleting the move at the bottom of the list (or was it the top?).

well im more concerned about the stat gains at the moment... because I am thinking about breeding a high stat torchic to get some more but i also want to train it myself... so I was thinking if that if i let it breed for a little bit, will i be losing anything like different stat gains between training and daycare leveling.

Nope. It's just like giving it Rare Candies. The levels go up without EVs.

A lot of people, if they don't have the patience to get lots of Rare Candies with Pick-Up, will put their Pokemon into the Daycare for a while until it's at a high enough level that they can EV-train it against whatever.

No matter how you level up (Rare Candy, Daycare, battling) the end result will be the same. The only thing that will make a difference is what (if any) EVs it gains.

Along with IVs and personality...and yeah...that's it. Nothing else besides those three things will affect stats.

It'll just gain the normal base amount for stats with no EVs. Once you EV train it, you'll get what you need.

I'll send this to general since nothing was specifically specified. It'll be better off there.
