Inspired by the TCG, though not ABOUT the TCG... how would you feel about the Pokemon games having rare versions of Pokemon that were of a unique type change? Think a secondary shiny that had its colors -less- altered than a normal shiny, but it would have a specific NEW typing from its ordinary counterpart. It wouldn't be as rare as a shiny, but it'd still be very uncommon.
Example: Electabuzz is normally Electric pure. What if there was a very rare chance that you could find an Electabuzz with slight color differences called "D-Electabuzz", and it would instead be Electric/Fighting?
There would only be one unique typing change per species, so it's not like sometimes you're going to find a Water/Psychic Golduck and other times you'll find a Water/Steel one. Golduck would ALWAYS be its ordinary typing or Water/Psychic specifically.
Personally, as long as it didn't get out of hand or just become completely random, I think it could be a really nice twist on the series that could give some lesser Pokemon a new relevance, and others a completely new role.
(Note: They don't actually need to be CALLED "Delta", that's just the name the TCG gave them so I figured it might be familiar to get the point across.)
