I was looking down some old threads here and I found this one

The purpose of this thread is to discuss strange dex entries, and another strange thinggs you've noticed about the Pokemon's abilities too, etc.

    Like for example,

"Alakazam have an IQ of over 5k" yet it can not learn a fifth move

    So that's it, discuss

Even though Escavalier is known to fly at high speeds, it can't learn Fly, plus it's horrendously slow in battle (base 20 Speed is slow).

Escavalier... well I don't think they can carry you can they? But the speed thing has always annoyed me. That entry is so misleading.

Cubone has been interesting. Their dex entry would mean that all Cubones are orphans and that's just downright depressing.

Metang apparently won't get scratched if it collides with a jet.

My question regarding this is, who tested this? Who would purposely ram planes into Metang, not knowing what the results would be? And how would they get Metang high enough in the air in order to have planes crash into it? Magnet Rise only gets you so far up off of the ground.

Yamasks are real ghosts, because they are said to look at their masks and cry and to have been humans until they died; so that rules out natural causes giving a creepy feeling to the air ...

I think it just meant levitate, not really fly.

    Charizard

It spits fire that is hot enough to melt boulders. Known to cause forest fires unintentionally.

Name one instance where that has EVER happened?

Haha, so Charizard's saliva can be a substitute for Strength? :D

    Heatmor:
"Using their very hot, flame-covered tongues, they burn through Durant's steel bodies and consume their insides."

    ... Wait, what? D:

Not really a strange dex entry, just sort of...cannibalistic. Heatmor is based on an ant-eater, Durant is based from an ant. It makes--well, a bit of--sense once you know what they're based from.

Though I can say that Charizard's saliva can't be a substitute for Strength, simply because Strength makes the player move boulders. I think you mean Rock Smash. Perhaps someday it'll be called something along the lines of "Rock-destroying-saliva Smash".

Also, I'd like to share Spoink's dex entry (not particularly sure what game it is from, but I suppose it's from the newer generations):

Spoink bounces around on its tail. The shock of its bouncing makes its heart pump. As a result, this Pokemon cannot stop bouncing - if it stops, its heart will stop.

I don't know if you consider that strange or not, but that's bloody disturbing. It's like when someone is seriously ill and is living through artificial support. I cannot imagine a Pokemon who constantly bounces for its life ever sleeping at all. *shiver*

Well if it's cannibalistic, then it's strange, no?

And yes, I do know Charizard's saliva can't actually be a substitute for using Strength out-of-battle... And Rock Smash smashes rocks, while Strength moves boulders, so it would be like "Boulder Melt" or something.. xD

    Cubchoo
Its nose is always running. It sniffs the snot back up because the mucus provides the raw material for its moves.

I suppose so. I find it weird when sources (like PokeDexes) say something about Pokemon eating another Pokemon, and the first thing that comes to mind is cannibalism. But if you look behind the meaning it's not really strange, since ant-eaters eat ants (as the name implies). I just really find Pokemon eating other Pokemon very disturbing--but not in real life!

Also, I guess we could safely say that Cubchoo is a Pokemon-implementation of what we call "got your nose!". xP

    Toxicroak's entry from Diamond:

'Its knuckle claws secrete a toxin so vile that even a scratch could prove fatal.'

Poison Jab should always be a OHKO from now on.
