I can't say i've used it for that all that much really. Everytime i've tried to i get to a certain amount of chains and the next one that shows runs off to quick for me to reach it. So i can never get anywhere. I personally just use the Dexnav to find better potential pokemon than chaining for shinies

Definitely a great method, caught a lot of shinies! I caught two today, actually ( Willow Noir and Larvesta )
I know getting cool egg movies, 3 stars, or a hidden ability won't always happen when you find a shiny, but I like the fact you have a chance at finding better shinies. I find it a lot of fun, ahah

Well, I found my first shiny in my Alpha Sapphire (which is a Plusle) thanks to the DexNav, even though it's because of the DexNav which wants to alert me straight away when I was not chaining any Pokémon that time. Since then, I've been trying to use the DexNav for hunting shiny Pokémon when I'm at it, but so far I haven't got any success...

I think it definitely works. I've found a few using DexNav. The first was an Absol on a chain of around 36. Since then I've found Cottonee and Eevee both of which took ages, and Zorua in about 15 encounters. I had no Shiny Charm at the time either. I'm not sure how much the odds increase, but I think it definitely helps. From what I've read elsewhere, I just assume it's the same rate as a Friend Safari.

I've actually had a few goes at it since last posting. I've gotten into the swing of things now. First i caught was an Absol on the rainy route, 120 i think. Then i caught Eevee by the cave on the route out of Rustboro, which actaully really didn't take long. I don't think i'll do it out of grass though, it'd be too hard. I'll stick to grassy dexnavving and chain fishing :D
