Diamond Dust is an easter egg in Pokémon games where the snow appears to be sparkling. This snow only appears in certain locations, such as Mt. Silver in HG/SS, Snowpoint City, Icirrus City, Frost Cavern and Mt. Lanakila.

These are the days that the Diamond Dust can occur:

January 12th (Masuda's birthday!, DP only, February 27th in Platinum, February 29th in all the 4th gen games, March 15h in all the generation 4 games, March 31st (the day Mew got trademarked) in D/P/PT only, April 22nd in D/P/PT only, May 1st (the release date of Emerald) in D/P only, September 2nd in D/P/PT only, September 20th (this is Sarah Natochenny's birthday) in D/P/PT only, October 10th in HG/SS only, October 30th in D/P/PT only, New Year's Eve in both HG/SS and all the generation V games, and last but not least your birthday in both x/y and seventh generation games.

Have you ever observed this Easter Egg before? It's very rare and specific, and mostly in the fourth generation games, but it is there, if you know when to look.

My first time in Snowpoint City was Jan 12th.
Masuda's Birthday, though as a child (I was 11 back then) I didn't really take note of the different snow, also, I'd not see snow in D/P before, so I presumed it was normal snow.
Not till a playthrough of Platinum was I like: "Huh, the snow is different" only to then a while later get Diamond Dust again, and I realise it's an egg of sorts.

    Still a nice thing though~
