By now, I'm sure you'll have heard about this. What do you think? IMO it's an interesting move, though it shouldn't affect operation of the computers themselves too much. Apparently it'll make Macs faster.

I already heard about it a few days ago. I visited some technology forums and the Apple fanboys were seeing it as some sort of bad end-world event, and at the only other forum I'm active in (non-Pok?mon forum, by the way), one of the administrators lamented at how yet another alternative processor architecture bites the dust.

In my opinion though, I think this is a good move on Apple's part. In the long run, Macintoshes will be cheaper, and it might compell more people to switch to Macintoshes. Also, this will give them the much needed edge over the so-called "Wintel" computers.

Isn't by the end of this year that Apple will run on Intels? I thought I read that on Slashdot. Anyway, if Apple doesn't make it easy for current Mac software to swith to the different architecture, then it will be Apple's downfall, but if they do make it easy, it'll help Apple a lot.

I couldn't believe it a first, but it's an excellent move to ensure apples long-term survival

They'll start using Intel chips by the end of this year, and all new Macs will have them by end of 2007, apparently. Or was it 2006? Now I'm confused XD

It's 2007. They will shift their PowerPC line of Macs to Intel by that year.

Yeah, that's what I thought at first, but then someone got me confused >_> XD

Those nerdy Apple fanboys are all going to freak out when they see that photograph of Windows running inside a Mac :P .

No, those who worship Apple Macintoshes...

    this has to be stopped

I strongly oppose this measure. Even though I am not a Mac user, this could seriously compromise the quality that Mac users have come to know and love.

If Windows can run on the new Mac computers, this could open up the possibility of Tribooting. Windows, Mac and Linux all in one box. God I'd love that.

Yeah, they say Windows will be able to run... this should be interesting XD.
