Okay, so the big action/sci-fi flick of the year is thus far, X3. Reasonable movie, for the most part.
Today, I saw something much better. District B13 is a French import, also action/sci-fi and much much better. The premise is fairly simple, and the writing, decent. The action is definately worth it, though. Co-starring David Belle (founder of Parkour) and Cyril Raefelli (Kiss of the Dragon, etc.), the fight scenes and on-foot chase sequences are a blast to watch, even moreso if you realize that much of the action (Belle in particular) is physically possible, even if it doesn't look such. Also, it manages to be emotionally involving, albeit through melodram. Still, well done melodrama.
Go see it if you can, it's worth the ticket.
Trailer.
