Do booster packs have similar cards in them?

I bought another booster the other day ... and to my surprise ... the booster pack once again had TWO holos in it -- it was an Arceus booster and it had a Luxray ( 5/99 ) and an electric Arceus ( AR6 ). This is the 2nd time this has happened to me this week and now I have two Luxray and two electric Arceus cards. .... weird, right?

Out of my many years of collecting cards, that has never happened to me. Are you saying it had the exact same cards?

I can't really say if it had all the exact cards -- I mixed them already ... but I got the same two holos packed together in two different packs.

    ...

Yes. They do. They're all of the same set .-.

If you got similar cards in consecutive boosters, well, that happens. XP

This has happened to me too, especially with the Arceus cards. I don't think it's supposed to be that way, but there you go.

Nintendo has a set order for the cards to packaged in - so getting the same pack twice is definitely possible.

Most people believe that the order of the cards in booster packs are drawn out of a hat, but indeed it's much faster to package cards up into packs if there's a predetermined order for the cards to be packaged in.

The only randomness with booster packs is the part of the "pre-determined" order that you get.

The source I got this from is a bit dated, but I believe the same principal is still applied today.

    Hope this helps!

I have gotten countless booster packs from various card games that have had near identical cards in them.

Not only is there potential that they have pre-determined orders, but also there is no true random when it comes to computers. Eventually the random seed will result in the same random order coming up again.

The result will be rather similar depending on what the Catagory of TCG Booster pack your getting is. You will get the same cards in boosters of the same category depending on their rarity. Some cards are common, uncommon, rare etc. Whereas if you're getting boosters from another category, you may get the same Pokemon but the actual 'attacks' will not be the same and neither will the image...generally speaking

We are talking about "Arceus Sets", so what you're saying is simply impossible. There are no Arceus cards in the other "categories" (or sets).
Anyway, i have had a similar situation last month when i bought 2 booster packs. They had 2 Fire Type Arceus.

... And now i want to sell one of them. XD
