Do the games get boring after a while?

Does anyone else find any or all of the Pokemon games boring now? I'm sitting here, twiddling my thumbs, waiting for 14 March. I just tried to convince myself to do a Solo-Run in Platinum, but I got bored before I had even got my Pokedex. R/S/E have always bored me, and I've played FRLG wayyy too much for it to even be an option.

So my question is, do you find the games boring and repetitive after a while? And what do you suggest doing to fix this problem?

Usually, after playing Diamond for a while, I just get so sick of it. But after a few months I'll pick it up again and want to keep playing, so this isn't really a problem of mine.
You could try and get some shinies, follow the swarms, trade Pokemon, and try to get through Stark Mountain to stay occupied. Also, when I'm bored, I try and find my way back up to Spear Pillar becase I always somehow forget how to get there. Its kind of like a pilgrimage. :3

Here's what happens to me. I play pokemon, get bored, and about 6 months to a year later, I go back to it. Rinse, lather, repeat. Never caught all of the pokemon, but that's because I don't have that much patience. Unfortunately I do not have tips on how to get interested again. Right now, I'm in the middle of the 'boredom' phase, so I'm not even playing.

Pokemon game consistently bore me. They're usually fun for the first month but then everything goes down hill from there. Fire Red seemed to bored me the least for some reason. I remember playing it for hours on end. Platinum is different. Every time I start up Platinum I find myself beating the daily trainers and Gym Leaders in the Battleground and that's it.

Lately, I've been trying to expand the gaming genres that I play to keep myself entertained when I have free time and I'm suggesting you should too. ;)

That's pretty much me in a nutshell. I'm also in the slump. Considering just taking a break from Pokemon, but IDK if I wanna lol.

EDIT: Something I've always found that helps cure boredom is writing fanfics. I'm contemplating writing one now, that usually gets me back into the Pokemon mood.

Humans will always get bored of something, no matter if it's a Pokemon game, or something else. The point is that one would indefinitely get bored of playing Pokemon, but most goes right back to it when there is nothing else to do.

I'm actually in that dilema right now. I want to play a pokemon game to help ease my excitement for the new games, but all of them are really boring me right now. DPPT was just terrible so I never get anything out of it and I'm just not feeling FRLG or RSE. So now in my spare time I just play other games I have like Zelda. By the time March comes around I'll probably be back in the mood and right in time for the HGSS too. So it will all work out.

I can't bring myself to play anything before Gen 4 anymore--not necessarily because of the graphics difference, but more so because I like playing with all 493 Pokemon available. Whenever I start getting bored, I try to devise something new to do to make it fun again. I got bored with Pokemon completely a while back and didn't play it for, like, 4 years, but it dragged me back in again. :)

I do agree with you that sometimes the games get really boring... however eventually I always come back to play them cause its additive.

After you beat he E4, it get's boring. Reminds me when HG/SS comes out, I'll never rush to beat the game again. (I actually rushed, to the point of my pokemon being under-level.)

Yeah, but the same can be said for all games, pretty much. You buy the game, heart racing and eyes wide in anticipation, and then a few weeks later you find you've rushed through it and you're bored. I usually get bored after the Elite 4. There's not that much to aim for goal-wise, no new places to explore a majority of the time, and the storyline usually comes to a stop. Then you're just left there, wandering aimlessly for something new to come up.

    ...Yeah.

I always get bored with every game before s/r/e
    Just because the graphics suck

    heh

Too me, they do. Only because I don't have Wi-Fi specifically for Pokémon Platinum.

Also known as, the WEP key.

For me, the series as a whole gets boring after a while. I didn't have much fun with D/P... HG/SS should be interesting, though
