3rd Gen Do you have Shiny OCD?

You may have Shiny OCD if you experience the following:

• Staring at a new encounter for more than 15 seconds before attacking
• Whines to others about not being lucky
• Still in rage that friends can give their shinies while you still can't get your own
• Abandons hatchlings all in the name of shinies
• Worries about any possibilities of accidently eliminating a shiny (also known Post Traumatic Shiny Disorder)
• Does rituals before encounters
• Has a near-death experience when witnessing a shiny on another person beside them (IRL)
• Has guilt for owning others' shinies (think oweing-monies-to-the-mob-scenario)
• Worries about his/her own eyes' health

This disorder affects 1 out of 8192 people in a population of 125,000. Why me?
I have suffered from this disorder for 6 years. I still have not reached the satisfaction treatment of owning a shiny MY OWN shiny on my GBA game.
You can say my luck is very GOOD on avoiding shinies. Unfortunately it comes at a price. of 5001. No nugget will cover that expense.

In all fairness it's really not your fault. Shinies in Gen III are insanely hard to find. I've only found 5, max, out of all the games I've ever played, and I killed two of those. You just have to be really really really REALLY lucky, and even then you'll probably get freaking Pokerus before you get one. And stuff like the Matsuda method and Poke Radar don't exist so all you can do is just enter random encounters and hope you see sparkles.

Heck I've been looking for a shiny Diglett for a long while and you know what I got instead? A shiny Dugtrio. I distinctly remember running into a purple one and that's why I've been looking. Never found it. I do love Tremors a lot though, she's a cute little set of blue-nosed triplets. And I remember hatching Charmander after Charmander hoping for a shiny and TO DATE I've never found one. :|

I know what you mean about those charmanders! I can say though I haven't hatched enough to make it an honest effort. I think universally a scenario that all trainers can sympathize with is being in the safari zone and encountering a shiny chansey. You might as well end life there :-( like don't even try..hahah...

I think though that it heavily relies on the specific area you are in and how long you stay with plenty of encounters to eventually find one all in one sitting i.e. Before shutting off the game. I normally don't spend a lot of time in one spot before shutting off the game.

After seeing how people use RNG abuse/manipulation and how trainer IDs + secret IDs + personalities + frames.. There could just be some undesirable data we possess that would make our odds more tricky. Maybe?
