Let's just think about it for a second. If you hadn't have known the truth, eventually you'd willingly give up your Pokemon - and not know what actually happened to them. In fact, you'd actually think it was for the greater good and people would live more peacefully knowing that they felt they did the right thing. For the most part, everyone would get what they really wanted, and Ghetsis personally could've been overturned by Plasma grunts while the whole ideology of freeing Pokemon continued and everyone lived naturally among Pokemon.

...so yeah, what's your thoughts on this? Feel free to discuss this as much as you want with other users, the more discussion = the more interesting theories!

I do not think Ghetsis wanted to free the pokemon. I think he had deeper, more evil plans in store. So ya I think the character should have stood up aginist Ghetsis.

Well no, he definitely had worse plans than freeing Pokemon. However, considering the amount of Plasma members that actually felt bad about what he was doing/didn't know what he was doing, don't you think they would've successfully overthrown him and carried out the original plans of just freeing Pokemon without you knowing any better?

I agree with you, although Ghetsis is strong the plasma grunts would most likely be able to overthrow him and continue with what they thought was right, which was freeing pokemon from owners.

I think that if Ghetsis hadn't get stopped by my character, no one would have stopped him for a long time (considering that Ghetsis used N as his tool, and not even the champion were able to beat him. The only one that were able to do that was you). The power a human can get by only speech, like Ghetsis, is terrifying.

Well, I favour Ghetsis and would like to see him rule the place, so I think my character is wrong, just for different reason. I wish they would let you choose paths in Pokemon.

Really interesting idea! :D Would be fun playing a Pokémon game as team rocket members.

I always thought that Ghetsis wanted to make trainers release their Pokemon because then he could step in and freebily (verb of freebie?) get all the pokemon and RULE THE WORLD!

Alright in my perspective I see the whole scheme of things impossible. In a real life example, it's like saying we should free all of our pets (dogs, cats, horses, every one of 'em!) and they'll be better off. We were all meant to mix in with each other, Pokémon are like the same. So there would be many people of Unova disagreeing and not feeling very comfortable with the situation. In the games, it only really showed us people recognizing the idea, but in confusion (when you look back to when Ghetsis/Team Plasma introduced their take on things in Accumula). I'm sure not everyone would be dumb enough to go along with their speech, let alone the whole population of Unova.

Second off, who's to say people will believe one team organization who randomly start going across Unova spreading this speech? Not to mention later on Ghetsis and the gang started going about it the wrong way. Kicking a Munna, stealing an innocent's Pokémon, etc. If he really wanted people to believe his fake scheme and keep his ulterior motive hidden, he should have "released" his Pokémon making it "known" that he had none really; Team Plasma doing the same as well. PLUS he started battling us and that ruined it all - so YES I was RIGHT to take a stand against Ghetsis. ;)

We're meant to be heroes in the game anyway. /ruined

Yes, I do believe my character was right for standing up against Ghetsis because it didn't seem right to release the Pokemon that I have a strong bond with. Since Pokemon tend to have strong bonds with their trainers, they wouldn't be completely happy if they were released.

I see it this way: Ghetsis is someone who plans on using Plasma's own purpose as his guise for his real devious plot: To become an Autocratic ruler.

It almost sounds like he's one of those evil geniuses that want to take control of the world, & we all know what happened to all of them. They ended up having their plans ruined by someone.

So, I would say that my character deserved to put Ghetsis in his place. 'Tis a shame that he can't skewer his severed head on the tip of a sharpened pole, but I can't get everything that I'd like.

I sort of agree with this. In my mind, as soon as a critter gets caught, it becomes instantly domesticated. Unlike in the anime, where Ash's Charizard still holds resentment, critters seem to like you the more time they spend with you - as evidenced by improving happiness ratings. Because of this, releasing Pokemon back into the wild would probably psychologically scar them in a much worse way than keeping them in a Poke Ball - with presumably unlimited food and energy and light and I don't know how they survive in there... - would do. So, no. I don't agree with Ghestis. And I can't believe I used the phrase 'psychologically scar' in the context of a Pokemon game!

I feel the protagonist does the right thing taking a stand against Ghetsis. All the madness Ghetsis was all about never had me fooled. Surely, had the protagonist not taken a stand against him, all the E4 and gym leaders, plus the other trainers would band together and overthrow him with raw force. Ghetsis's own team plasma would soon revolt as well, helping to overthrow him too. N would also probably help as well.

So, yes, I feel the protagonist was right to take a stand, but in the same way, everyone else could have took a stand and defeated him as well.

Actually, I was quite moved by Ghetsis' first speech (although I had a feeling that he was going to be the antagonist). Although I enjoy pokemon battles, I had a thought that it was, in some ways, cruel to make pokemon battle with each other. Yes, people do say that pokemon enjoy doing battles as "sports", but to me (as the trainer), it just feels uncomfortable sometimes. Also, in a way, trainers are using pokemon to get money by battling (although the majority of trainers don't really think about the money, I guess)

Still, I have nothing against having pokemon as pets.

Of course your character was right in standing up to him. Disagreeing with someone's seemingly righteous ideology does not inherently mean you are morally wrong, it just means you have a different way of looking at the issue. Team Plasma was forcibly imposing their ideology on people (by stealing Pokémon and the like), which is very, very wrong regardless of how noble your cause is. That alone is enough to justify standing up to them.
