    Do you think this is going to be the final generation of pokemon.
     
    Not by a long shot. Pokemon is a GIGANTIC cash cow for Nintendo.


    As for the continuation of side merchandise (cards, figures, etc.), that's up for debate.
     
    No because Pokemon is popular all around the world, and if this game is the best Pokemon game then people aren't goining to lose intrest in it so thats a good thing. As long as alot of people still like Pokemon then it won't end or until they run out of ideas

    No, its very possible that Pokemon will continue for some time as well Pokemon is very popular still in some places and Nintendo is still raking in the cash. There will still be a profit for them releasing new games, simply because there will still be people around who will buy them. Just look at D/P sales in the first week in Japan.
     
    there's no point in ending pokemon now, but it's still VERY possible that this is the last generation. there are so many reasons to think that it is the last generation, and only 1 reason to think that it isn't: nintendo makes a lot of money from it.

    And that's the only reason that matters.

    Nintendo would sooner go to fans for new Pokemon ideas (not saying that's a bad thing, BTW) than stop making the games
     
    I heard they will be making up to 7 generations.
     
    Finishing Pokémon would be a terrible mistake. D/P have been the games sold faster in Japan, and tons of people have preordered the English version, and half the world is expecting to be April 22nd, so there's no reason to end POkémon here.
     
    This surely won't be the final generation, but I do hope they put a long time between this and the next generation.
     
    I heard that it's going to be a year until they start think of making a new game. But that's only what i heard. They definitely wouldn't dare because a lot of people would come and kill them while they sleep because Pokemon is as everyone says, and knows a cash cow. Just look at how many fan sites it has. Including this one. They will just have to be raving mad to even have the thought of it ending come into their money filled brains.
     
    I don't think it'll be the last generation at all.
    I'm assuming they're be a couple more, at least.

    Who knows... maybe Nintendo is trying to get 1000 Pokemon. >>;

    I just saw the very first english Pokemon commercial.
    They were all "And there ONE HUNDRED FIFTY of them!!" and it was this huge deal...
    Doesn't seem like much at all now...^^;
    I do remember when 150 was alot though..

    I'm sticking to the theory of reaching 1000 of them.
