Duel of the Djinni
This is an RP based on the Bartimaeus Trilogy series. You don't have to have read the books to RP here, because I will explain just about everything you have to know. If there is something you don't understand, just let me know. And I will try to remember that probably no one has read the books and probably doesn't know what I'm talking about.
In London, magicians have gathered in a grand temple. This temple is a place for them to rest, to learn, and to battle.
The magicians themselves aren't the battlers. Oh no, they're much too precious for that. For years, magicians have controlled creatures known as djinni (genie) to do their bidding, things like stealing and murdering and the such. Now, one of the greatest magicians of all time has challenged the knowledge of the magicians to see which of them can summon the best djinni. In the temple, the magicians will control their djinn and force them to battle other djinn. The magician who summons the best djinn that can defeat all of the other djinni will be claimed champion at the temple and given a grand prize.
Things you need to know:
Djinni: Magical creatures that magicians summon to do whatever they tell them to. They have great power, and can use different spells to battle their foe. They can also transform into different creatures, whatever they choose. But using spells and transforming takes up a lot of energy. They can see seven planes. They will do what the magician that summoned them tells them to, they have to. It doesn't mean they like it though. They are almost always threatened into doing it. Those who do it because they want to are hated amongst all the magical creatures, like gay people to 7th graders. Magicians can use spells against them to hurt them if they don't do what they're told. The only way to keep a magician from hurting them with a physical spell is for the djinn to know the magician's birth-name, which can be used with a counter spell to deflect the attack.
Planes: Planes are different areas that only certain creatures can see. We humans can only see the first plane, which is the easiest for djinni and other creatures to change their form on. There are special lenses magicians have that let them see up to at least the fourth plane.
Imps: Lesser magical creatures. They can't transform (to my knowledge at least) but they can be bound into an object (known as a scrying glass) to snitch on other magicians for the magician that summoned them. They can also deliver messages to other magicians. That's mostly all their used for, aside from security.
Utukku: Magical creatures like imps and djinnis and all them. They are very strong, and very dense. They are usually very large, with human bodies and heads of creatures like bulls and eagles.
Magicians: No, not like the wizards in Harry Potter. These guys are different. They don't need magic wands. They do need to learn the correct spells, and how to draw the symbols correctly. They can summon creatures like imps, djinni, afrits, foliots, and marids. You have to be VERY VERY VERY skilled to summon afrits and marids though. They also don't know much of their parents, since young magicians are taken away to live with other magicians at a very young age to be rightfully taught in the art of magic.
And here is your form-
Brith name: (shall not be revealed to ANYONE. It is for only you to know)
Formal Name: (this is the name you will use, which everyone will call you. If you don't have one, people will either have to call you "boy" or "girl" depending on your gender)
Age: (must be 12 or older. If you're any younger you can't have a Formal Name)
Gender:
Looks:
Personality:
Djinn's Name:
Djinn's Personality:
I'll post mine later. If you've read the book, you can't be anyone from the book (like Nathniel and Mr. Underwood) except djinns (like Bartimaeus, Farquarl, and Jabor)
Hope you like! ^-~
