    1. Try to get an attack move with STAB if possible, unless the only ones you can get suck.

    2. Self cover moves are very helpful in the cases of sweepers and p-annoyers. Get them when you can. A self cover move is a move that attacks a weakness of your weakness Ex Kyogre with I/Beam(SC Grass)

    3. F/Thrower, I/Beam, Surf... are better than Fire Blast, Blizzard, Hydro Pump...

    4. I try to pick Pokemon with high Attack or SA stats and high Speed. 00bers fit this description perfectly, but don't get ridiculous with them, or some tournaments will ban you.

    5. Hyper Beam works on Pokemon with a decent(not necessarily overwhelming) ATK and a high SPD as a last shot before you fall. It reduces the damage the rest of your team has to inflict. Do not use it unless you can probably kill them in one more hit though unless you are on the brink of fainting. The recharge hurts you in some cases.

    6. The only time to give high ATK and low SA Pokemon a Spec move is in the case of a self cover or crunching steelix. Golem/Rhydon with Fire Blast, Snorlax with Psychic, or Groudon with Solarbeam are good examples of when this can be used.

    7. The rule can work in reverse too. An Alakazam with a Fighting type move, a Jolty with Dig, or an Espy with Shadow Ball all work.

    8. If your Pokemon can learn a recovery move, it is a must that you have it.

    9. If you have a Pokemon with high SPD and low DEF, try the move Reflect. The same can work for a high SPD and low SD for Light Screen.

    10. High SPD is almost always better. This is not true in the cases of Metagross, T-Tar, and Groudon, so check what you are doing.

    11. I try to avoid Umbreon and the annoyance movesets that go with it.
The closest to a full annoyer I will go is a p-annoyer with something like this for Umbry:
    Ft Attack
    Moonlight
    Toxic
    Confuse Ray
I am a fighter, and I try to have at least one offensive move on every moveset I create.

    12. Moves to avoid for high level Pokemon:
    Razor Wind
    Splash
Growl or other ATK/SA dropping moves
Howl or other ATK/SA slow boost moves(Curse is OK)
    Dragon Rage or Sonic Boom
Any damage move unless speed move(Mach Punch, Quick Attack) below 50 POW
The lesser of two damage moves of the same type
    Ex. F/Thrower and Flame Wheel--keep F/Thrower
Focus Punch without Sub or partner with Follow Me
    Overheat on a spec sweeper
If you think of any more add them

13.NEVER USE KYOGRE AND GROUDON ON THE SAME TEAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Groudon80: I do not want you or any other e4 protector haters like you posting here.
e4 protector haters: you know who you are

    no. you fail at life.

    solarbeam groudon sucks.

there is no problem to using groudon and kyogre on the same team as long as its a double battle.

the only reason that I dont want you posting in my thread is because you suck at pokemon ;\

I thought I told you not to post in my thread. Oh, and by the way, I added you to my ignore list.

And could you actually tell me why you think my rules don't provide good movesets? If you will, quote each rule and tell me why you think it sucks.

I don't know about all the e4 protector haters thing, but it can't be good, and it will mpst likely start a flame war, so I suggest you cease and desist.

I'm just trying to help you though. Hyper Beam is not used for a reason, it wastes a slot, even if it is before you die it wastes a slot for when you are not about to die.

Jolt should not have Dig, and Zam shouldn't have a fighting type move, there is no reason, becase you really must not now how horrid his Attack power is.

It is not a must that if a poke that can lern a recovery move that it has to learn it. Most if not all Pokemon can learn Rest, but they don't all use it or need it.

Now I think it is a good thing G80 was banned, I understand that he was being rude, but he did know what he was doing when it comes to movesets, but he went about it in a horrible way.
    :dead:

Actually, I do. I use OK SPD monsters with high ATK/SA(Zard,Dragonite). Actually I have a max speed Zard(298). However, it is currently on my Crystal version and I can't transfer it to FR/LG.
If you do you can build a team of sweepers and it will work. However, I have a "non-newbie" team, Maybe you guys will like it more than the other teams I post?

I suggest you download netbattle which is what I was orignally asking. Zards max speed is 328.

Still, 298 is faster than most. Only a few Pokemon can get faster than that, and those include many 00bers. Non-00bers that get that fast: Crobat, Dugtrio, Alakazam, Gengar, Tauros, Jolty, Electrode, Sceptile, Swellow. There may be a couple more, but that's about it. Also I am doing this from a library computer, so I can't download Netbattle. Still, I search for tournaments and attend them.

Guess what, most of the pokes in that list are OU, so your going to run into them.

    Dugtrio-OU
    Zam-OU
    Gengar-OU
    Jolty-OU
    Sceptile-OU
    Trode-BL (I think)

Not going to work. Jolt will crush Zard, so will Trode, and Zam w/ T-punch will kill him too.
    :\

yup, even salamence may be faster than charizard. rockslide OHKO it. the most common rock slide user who charizard should fear though, is dugtrio. if you don't have endure+salac to counter it you're good as gone cuz he can't take a hit.

le'ts also not forget starmie, who's extremely OU.

CB tauros, CB heracross are other pokemon who may be faster than 298 zard if they have jolly nature. even w/o adament @ CB they can OHKO charizard.

Golem/Rhydon with Fire Blast, Snorlax with Psychic, or Groudon with Solarbeam are good examples of when this can be used.ummm.... wtf? groudon+s-beam= bad. snorlax with psychic= WORSE, golemn/rhydon+fireblast... umm... NO.

    7. The rule can work in reverse too. An Alakazam with a Fighting type move, a Jolty with Dig, or an Espy with Shadow Ball all work.zam with fighting= NO, jolt with dig- t-bolt with 1/2 damage does more than dig fo jolt, and doesn't waste a turn. espy+shadowball= NO.

    8. If your Pokemon can learn a recovery move, it is a must that you have it.

-The lesser of two damage moves of the same type

you have most of it... just some weak spots in it, but otherwise its not too bad for ingame stuff.
