Well as sone of you may know im now ev training my pokemon from scratch, and this is the moveset im thinking of for Espeon.

Max out the Evs in HP and Speed.

    Espeon @ Leftovers
    Timid
    Calm Mind/Sunny Day
    Shadow Ball/Baton Pass
    Wish/Morning Son
    Psychic

And This One For Umberon - Max Out EVS in HP/Defense

    Umberon@ Leftovers
    Bold
    Toxic
    Mean Look/Curse
    Baton Pass
    Wish

Now i dont know if i should not train umberon and use an absol instead.

What EVS Would I Need To Max Out For Absol?

    Absol @ Leftovers/Choice Scarf
    Lonely/Jolly
    Night Slash
    Stone Edge
    Zen Headbutt
    Purusit/Taunt

Some of the movesets above are taken from my other topic that people helped with and some from google.

Can anyone tell me before i start raising them to go with either absol or umberon?

    Thanks

Oh me, oh my...no, just NO. Never use Sunny Day unless your pokémon has Chlorophyll (or possibly Solar Power); it's just not worth it. *Sigh* Let's try this again, shall we?

    Espeon @ Leftovers
    Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
    EVs: 4HP / 252SPATK / 252 SPD
    Psychic
    Grass Knot
    Calm Mind/Fake Tears
    Baton Pass/Substitute

Yeah, espy can actually sweep now. Baton Pass and Calm Mind go together, but Fake Tears with Substitute can work as well.

    Absol @ Choice Scarf
    Trait: Super Luck
    Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
    EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
    Night Slash
    Psycho Cut
    Rock Smash/X-Scissor
    Stone Edge/Pursuit

Rock Smash is sort of lol, but it does - sort of - dent Tyranitar. X-Scissor hurts Tyranitar a bit less, but nailing Celebi is never wrong. Psycho Cut is there to cover the fighting weak (Which it does marginally better than Aerial Ace) but more importantly because of the high critical hit ratio, because with a pokémon like Absol we seriously want to see as many crits as mortally possible. For the last move, just pick your favourite physical filler. Taunt had its - very small - niche in advance, but with D/P's aggressive fast-track style that move has no place on an Absol moveset. T_T

That Umbreon looks alright, but you could also consider Dark Pulse or Pursuit in there to hit Gengar, Azelf and Starmie who think they can just switch in on you. If you do, Mean Look/Curse should be the first to go. Also, I'd say Relaxed nature is preferable here since a low-speed Baton Pass allows your Umbreon to take the hit instead of leaving it for the weakened pokémon you're trying to heal with Wish. The lower Speed also softens Gyro Ball damage a little and with that set I don't see much point with going first. :3 Protect is also an option on the set as it combos with Wish to increase Umbreon's longevity. But you know, if we start talking options this is going to be a very long debate; Umbry is really one of those 'pick your poison' species. So many lovely support moves. <3

As for which you should go with: that depends entirely on your team. Umbreon is the epitome of a support pokémon, whereas Absol - at best - is a frail sweeper. Strategically speaking, they have as much in common as Arceus and Magikarp. Umbreon is better if your plan on playing an OU environment, though. ^^

    Throwing in random idea:
How's Absol as a baton passer? It learns Magic Coat, which is nice against fast hypnosis users like Crobat, and warranting you a free turn to Sword Dance or make a Sub.

Meh, sounds sort of novelty to me. The problem here is that Absol is so frail, meaning that opponents most likely won't even bother with statusing him and would just go for the kill instead. It's a nice idea, though; I'll give it that. Guess that kind of Absol would be:

    Absol @ Focus Sash
    Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
    Trait: Super Luck
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP (This guy's EV spreads are so simple. xD)
    Night Slash/Sucker Punch
    Magic Coat
    Swords Dance
    Baton Pass

I'd like to stress that this is very much a novelty set, but I might give it a try just for the fun factor. It calls for some pretty crazy prediction skills, though.

I have used BP Absol on Netbattle (a.k.a. with moderate success, though. :3

Not really, Confuse Ray makes Umbreon cry. Why rely on freakin' luck moves when it has perfectly viable, consistent ways of protecting itself? If you're going to hax, just throw in Double Team too while you're at it. <.<

Alter ego for the last two spaces in umberons line should i use

    -curse
    -wish

also i dont understand why espeon has grass knot does it do any real damage im a noobie to this sorry.

    I'll put it this way...

    Grass Knot>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Swampert

There's a tricky little strategy that involves both Umbreon and Espeon, although it's extremely difficult and requires a lot of planning, regardless, this is it, I'll throw in my CHing Absol to complete it.

    Umbreon
    Bold Nature
    EVs: 252 HP / 128 Defense / 128 Sp. Defense
    @ ?
    ~ Baton Pass
    ~ Yawn
    ~ Mean Look
    ~ Faint Attack

People say never put an attack on a tank, wall, etc. HA! Such lies, without at least one little attack you're screwed over by a move like Block/Mean Look + Taunt. Faint Attack at least gets STAB, as well a +5 boost over Umbreon's 60 base in Sp. Attack; otherwise, you start off with Mean Look to trap your opponent, and obviously use Yawn, and then the next turn deliver a Baton Pass over to Espeon, and now it's their turn.

    Espeon
    Modest Nature
    EVs: 252 Sp. Attack / 252 Speed / 4 HP
    @ Big Root
    ~ Dream Eater
    ~ Shadow Ball
    ~ Grass Knot
    ~ Yawn

With Mean Look and Yawn Baton Passed, your opponent should be fast asleep by now, and in case they weak up you have Yawn and the still Baton Passed Mean Look at your side. Dream Eater + STAB + Big Root is simply amazing, while Shadow Ball and Grass Knot are for type coverage

    Absol
    Adamant Nature
    Super Luck Ability
    EVs: 252 Attack / Other EVs (?)
    @ Scope Lens
    ~ Psycho Cutter
    ~ Night Slash
    ~ Stone Edge
    ~ Thunder Wave

Thunder Wave < Swords Dance, Absol simply doesn't have the Defenses to hold up with Swords Dance, when at least if you Paralyze you're doing yourself a favor, and in case you don't make it you're really helping out your next teammate.

There'sa reason no one ever attacks with Umbreon. Its just too weak. Even with Taunt around, hitting with a pitiful attack won't help it.

Yeah...just switch if you have a bad matchup...attacking with umbreon is like walling with gengar. The standard BP set is the best...IMO.

It's a filler option. If you're trapped by Block/Mean Look/Fire Spin/etc. and they have a Taunt combo going you're screwed a thousand times over, if at least having a single attack thankfully you can at least get something done instead of being stuck =/ I never said to make Umbreon a full-out physical attacker, hm? It's a filler move for protection and getting yourself out of situations.

No matter what, even giving it one attack move will do it no good. What is it gonna do? Scare me away with a pitiful attack? He will never be in a Taunt/Mean Look (Fire Spin?) combo, but if he does, he will just have to eat it. It will not get anything done being so offensively weak, and will not do noticible damage to even consider an attacking move.

    Umbreon @:Leftovers
Trait: Being sucky in 4th Gen Synchronize
    Bold/Impish Nature
    Taunt
    Mean Look
    Curse
Baton Pass. Taunt to prevent Skarm from Whirlwinding you away.

    Espeon @: Focus Sash
Trait: Um. Being a cat? Synchronize
    Timid Nature
    Calm Mind
    Yawn
    Shadow Ball
HP Fire. Hp Fire to destroy common bugs such as Heracross and Grass Types in UU Play. Yawn after Calm Minding and surviving attack with Focus Sash to survive at least a while. And help you do your job of Baton Passing. Shadow Ball for an alternate of the poor coverage of Psychic to Ko Dusknoir/Gengar etc.
