If I wanted to breed one of these two pokemon, would the baby be an eevee? If I ditto breeded them, would they be whatever the respective parent was?

So, If I want a baby Espeon or Umbreon, how does that work?

You can't, any time you breed a Pokemon that has evolutions, it always goes back to the first Pokemon on the evolutionary chain.

I think only Pokemon such as Wobbefet and Marill are the only exceptions to this rule, because they require an item during breeding to produce Wynauts and Azurils.

So you're stuck with raising the baby Eevee's happiness up until they evolve in an Espeon or Umbreon.

Well, you could just hatch a Lv. 5 Eevee and give it the happiness bell item thing and then run around for hours on end. Then you would get a baby Espeon or Umbreon, depending when it rached full happiness.

You can breed ditto's with male Pokemon, you will get a baby of the lowest evolutionary form of the pokemon that isn't ditto (that is why you cannot get a non-hacked ditto caught in Diamond/Pearl that is below level 29), if you are breeding without a ditto, eg Swampert (Male) + Blastoise (Female), the pokemon in the egg will be in the evolution line of the mother (eg Blastoise)

You only will not get the lowest level of the evolutionary line if the parent is Wobbufet, Maril etc (there are a few others I believe) and not holding the right item.

Did that help in any way?

That would work indeed, but who knows how long it would take... :-(

    i think its every 256 steps = +1 happiness... @_@

back to the breeding part, cant you only breed ditto's with female pokemon??
You can breed Ditto to both males and females... Coz, you know that there are Male-only species, right? So how would they reproduce if there are no females (and females are the ones whose species are followed by their offsprings <as explained by Ambient>) in their species?

I thought you can't evolve an umbreon/espeon in FR/LG because theres no light or day. If I remember correctly, you had to evolve your eevee by happiness during the day to get an espeon, and at night to get an umbreon. So since theres no night or day in FR/LG, theres no way to happiness evolve eevee.

So I finally got them both, right at 16, it took a lot of battles, vitamins, etc etc. The only thing that bugs me is that trading them back to FireRed they are not mine originally.

Well if your goal was to simply add them to your pokedex, then it wouldn't matter if they aren't yours. And assuming you have all 8 badges, they will obey you no matter what. Which I assume you do, since you have gotten the the island and have been able to trade to R/S/E.

Breeding a Pokèmon will always end up in the basic stage Pokèmon of the evolutionary line. That means that if you breed Jolteon, Flareon, Vaporeon, Espeon, Umbreon, Glaceon and Leafeon with a Ditto, the egg will produce an Eevee.

This thread no longer has a purpose.
