4th Gen EV training question

Hi, i just want to ask about this EV training thing (i'm new to it XD). Do the pokemons only gain EV points when they are in their final evolution or do they gain them in their previus ones aswell? (I was EV training my Luxio but i was wondering if it counts or if it only does when it evolves to Luxray)

Pokemon gain EVs in every fight, no matter what level, no matter what form or evolutionary stage. n.n

To get a little more technical, Pokemon gain EVs every time they gain experience in battle. They stop gaining EVs at lv. 100.
