Ever get or trade a game in at gamestop?

Those things aren't mutually exclusive. I'm pretty sure that the clerk is pretty happy when he's about to rip you off.

And no, since I know market value for games pretty well, I know if I'm being ripped off. And they've never tried. My opinion of the local place is actually pretty high, TBH.

Well there is no gamestops in my country but in my usual trade-in store they give you what I believe to be a fair price and sometimes its possible to rip them off because they give you more than you buy the game for, in some cases.

Well, ive gone to gamestop and gotten games with a happy clerk but never with any bs clerk who rips people off. I always get my games and reserve them at gamestop and the people at the one I go to are always nice. I get discounts from them all the time.

The only trade I did was Wii Fit for Wii Fit Plus. There was an unadvertised promotion (how is that helpful?) where you could trade up for free. No extra costs.

When I went though, the regular trade-in value for Wii Fit dropped substantially, so the clerk (who happened to be the manager btw and should have been aware of the promotion) only gave me a $5 credit. I ended up paying $22 for a game that...I essentially already had. O_o And was supposed to be free.

I called EB when I got home and I got to keep the game and get my money back, but it should not have had to come to that.

I trade in anything I don't play/need regardless of what I get for it. Every little bit counts, and I make sure my debit card has plenty of money in it before I go spending at gamestop. Not like I need to worry about a empty bank anytime soon, though. *Rich-Five* D;<
But yeah.

I do seem to get dud used items very often there.
I recently bought a few used gamecube games like Sunshine only to find out by the time I got home and tried it, both my wii and gamecube wouldn't read the disks.

I use to, but selling on Ebay will get you a lot more money, which I why stopped. I remember always getting around 5 to 10 dollars on my PS2 games no matter what the condition. :/

I used to do it all the time but they give you less than half of what you pay for thme so I dont even bother much anymore, but I usually buy games that I know I won't want to trade. I plan on buying a couple of used games in a few days actually though.

Game stores rip you off no matter what you're selling. I usually just sell my games online on eBay or something.

Well, no if you are confining the question to that actual shop.

But I do buy pre-owned games and trade in games every so often. I am a poor student T_T

No. I usually get all the PMSing clerks. Like I walked in to get a GBA SP a month or two ago.
And she was all. "Know what you want before I go unlock the case." and I was like. "I do." And she just kinda looked at me funny. >_>;

I buy used games from EB/Gamestop but I don't sell back. I already know it's a rip off so even if I did sell my games, I'd do it online. If the game is going to be resold for like $30, why should I only get $5 for it?

When I was younger, I sold all of my Gamecube and PS2 games to Gamestop. I got about $100, which I thought was a pretty good deal since all the games I was selling them sucked.

I tried to get my money, because I didn't want to buy anything else. But the jackass at the counter told me he could only give me store credit. :| I was too young to think about arguing, so I bought the Orange Box and Bioshock. XD

I got ripped of. I was young and naive and didn't realize the money I was getting was outrageously low, nor did I know that it could only be used in gamestop. so i end up getting like.. 20$. I sold them ffxii, wwe raw vs. smackdown 2008, ff: cc, devil may cry two, and someting else. pretty ridiculous amirite? I ended up getting this really ****** game about an australian animal or something.

It's funny how some people seem to have a sense of entitlement with regards to how much they should get get when they trade in their games; as if the original RRP is at all relevant in the matter. The massive rule of economics when it comes to a market with both strong new *and* pre-owned markets is that of devaluation; if you buy a new car, drive it, and then decide you want to trade it in toward another car - do you expect that you'll get retail value for your car? Do you expect you'll even get close? Of course not.

Figure this in. Any retailer whom sells pre-owned games needs to identify what price they can fairly charge for a pre-owned product; usually it will be between 1/2 and 2/3 of the current retail price (not the original price YOU paid for it); and then pay you an amount that leaves enough remaining for them to make their share, plus cover relevant taxes. So, for example; if a game has a current retail of $50; it may be decided to charge..$35 for the pre-owned; meaning that they may offer you anywhere between $8 and $15 for that title to allow for your share; the stores share; and taxes. It's not about "ripping you off"; it's simple business.
