I don't use IE that much but when I do I have a tool bar that will not go away. It will go away from one page then it will come back. And it comes back each time I close. Its supposdedly called Norton AntiVirus but in my Norton's help it had nothing about a tool bar. I was searching good but I was quite scared to click links. Has anybody else had this problem, how do i make it go away.

I also have another problem. My homepage is always put into a path of searchweb2.com or something. Its really evil. Like it will make the url...
https://searchweb2.com/passthrough/index.html?https://google.com/ when I set it to google. It does it after completly shut down my browser. Its really eeevil. If i need to screenshot it tell me but i dont think i should have to since i told you it said that. Well Help

Did you try going to view>> first option >> uncheck Norton Toolbox.

Funnily enough, both are the same thing.
And it has NOTHING to do with Norton.
But it's also not impossible to fix.

You'll first want to get a nice little piece of software called 'Hijack This'
It was free, last time I checked.

Once you've got that, run Hijack This and put a check by these:

    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = https://searchweb2.com/searchbar.html
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CMZC] C:\WINDOWS\CMZC.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: C:\WINDOWS\UpdReg.EXE
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [upload roam] C:\PROGRA~1\IDLECI~1\keep cool.exe

Close ALL windows except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"
    Now restart in Safe Mode.
(Click Here if you're unsure how to do so.)

As XP will not always show you hidden files and folders by default, Go to Start > Search and under "More advanced search options".
Make sure there is a check by "Search System Folders" and "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search system subfolders". Next click on My Computer. Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
    Click "Apply" then "OK".
Awesome, now we're ready to zap this motherhumper.

Once in Safemode find and delete:

    The C:\WINDOWS\CMZC.exe file
    The C:\Program Files\IDLECI~1 folder

There's knowing the exact name of that folder, but it will begin with IDLECI and it will contain the "keep cool.exe" file.
Delete this sucker and your problems SHOULD be at an end.
Reboot, cross your fingers, and load explorer.
    Have fun.

    Nail that then.
Follow the rest of what I wrote that applies to you.
    And you should be clean.

Adaware can't touch this sucker, AFAIK.
Not last time I checked, anyway.

Edit: Fixed. And God help me if I ever have to use that horrid remote assistance feature again XD

Well this right here is a lesson in reading Terms and Agreements.
The culprit here was an addon for MSN Messenger called MSN Plus. Upon install it gives you a *choice* to install Spyware or not, however the window looks as if its asking you if you want to install MSN Plus itself.
Deceptive, but avoidable if you guys would all read your terms of use when installing! ^_~

Anyway, problem solved, glad to have helped, make me an admin, yadda yadda, the usual spiel :P

    It's an add-on for MSN plus? o_O

It's on my parent's IE, but they don't have MSN Plus... they wouldn't know what it is...

But I think I'll try that thing you suggested...

get spybod s&d or you can go to the control panel and uninstall it.

Did you really remote assistance him? Rofl, that just scares me when the mouse moves on it?s own, probably especially if it was you. =o

As response 2 wht Imakuni says:
First you probably want to go to Control Panel -> Add/remove programs
Then if it doesnt show up there, use Spybot S&D

The only thing I allowed to install Spyware on my computer was the Google toolbar... >>

And I don't even use that anymore. ~^-^~

Actually half the time you have no choice. Spyware will just crawl in the installer and stuff. But whats wierd is that after uninstalled the messenger plus then the nortan toolbar was for my nortan antivirus o_o())

Yeah, MSN Plus is one of the ones that gives you the choice.
    Most don't.

u want to use S&D on a regular basis...if sumthin's wrong on my comp., i use spybot...

*hasnt read the whole thread* well I dunno maybe im wrong but I had taht with some other toolbar, have you tried going to control panel, add remove programs and just removing the toolbar altogether?
Always works for me with unwanted toolbars.

Um..the problem is long gone XP
    I fixed it ^_^
It's from MSN Plus, not from a Porn Site.
