Am the only one who hates it when people say they'll do something then make an excuse without thinking who they would be hurting ?

Say this person was a young child who was told they could do something then they got so excited about it. Someone comes along and makes an excuse hurting this young child.

EDIT: Just for some additional questions to make this thread a little more viable, do you often make excuses to get out of doing something? Have you ever been caught? Do you think you're a convincing enough liar, or do you think the people involved know what you're doing but are too nice to say anything? Do you have any special tactics for making excuses to make yourself more interesting?

I'm pretty sure almost everyone hates excuses. Sure, a few of them are understandable if they're true, but other times, even if it's real, then it still sucks. People lose dependability when they start making excuses.

Yeah, I make random excuses. I didn't want to tutor a kid one week because I was so deathly tired, but I didn't say that to his parents. I told them I was sick instead, and thankfully I wasn't caught or anything. Usually, my excuses are things I normally do because they're a lot more believable that way, but I just don't happen to be doing them at the moment.

I make... excuses all the time. I'm so lazy and stuff. I've been caught many times too. And when I'm not caught, I think people mostly just act nice and don't yell lol. It depends on the situation though, sometimes I'm able to create some really good excuses and sometimes I create some stupid ones.

I can't say I hate or detest them, for I'm quite the master of excuses in real life...although I avoid making excuses on the internet.

Since I'm known as the kindest, most caring person in my school, nobody ever suspects me of lying or making excuses to get away with something.

I don't make excuses often, because honestly I'm terrible at it. But when I do, it's always "ugh I'm so sorry, they've called me in to work at the last minute and there's literally nobody else who will do the shift". They always believe me because it's actually something that does happen often... just not quite as often as everybody else thinks :P. I've never been caught out with that one which honestly shocks me because all they'd have to do is go into my work to visit me and see that I wasn't there.

But yeah I don't like it when people make excuses on me; but I guess everybody would be a hypocrite in that respect lol

Ah, excuses. I've used them to get out of doing stuff, to be able to go out and hang with friends, to get people to buy me stuff, and all sorts of things. I don't have any problem with using them since there's always a hint of truth to them and they're not outright lies. And I like to think I'm pretty good at them since they work for me. So I have to be at lest somewhat convincing with my excuses, lol

I think I make at least one excuse a day. I hate it when people do that to me, but I'm a hypocrite, so...
