After a long while of playing runescape, I finally got bored and decided to redo something that would actually benefit others. I'm designing a system that allows people to trade between fangames without each of them inputting a glob of major reprogramming to RMXP(A.K.A. Universal Pokedex).
This system will manipulate rmxp's scripting capabilities to make trading between fangames (made by different people) possible.
Here are some pros and cons of what I plan to do for the games that support this project:
Pro: this system will allow trade between games (even custom pokemon)
Con: People can't add pokemon to their pokemon list without a pokedex worker doing so.
Pro: game programmers won't have to all add *insert new pokemon here* manually; it's automatic.
Con: People can't add moves (similar to the issue above)
Pokedex features of the universal pokedex:
1. Numerical Mode
2. Evolutionary Mode(for instance, onix and steelix would be next to each other, like in g/s/c)
Faq:
Q: What's a universal Pokedex?
A: It's my system that will enable people to trade and battle over the internet.
Q: How is such a thing possible?
A: The games, instead of having items, moves, Pokemon, and such be manually programmed, will obtain information from an online database.
Q: Will you be releasing this system to the public if you get enough support?
A: Not only, though, do I need support, but I need scripters and spriters(if a custom sprite looks terrible(no offense to those who's strong point isn't spriting))
Q: I don't want so-and-so's pokemon in MY fangame. Take it out.
A: Each Pokemon inserted into the Pokedex has to be approved in both abilities and sprites. so I personally guarentee that Aruseus(sp?) will be the strongest Pokemon in the entire game, as opposed to Mega-ultra-ultima-pokemon-that-kicks-everything's-butt. If you still are opposed to it, please give me a good reason to take it out.
Well, is anyone even slightly interested?
