Alright, since I didn't see this thread..

    I'll make it..

What is your favorite anime genre? For example.. mine would be magical girl animes or magical girlfriend genres. Those are my two favorite genres. You may post more than one genre if you like more.

I kinda like romance and a little bit of mystery. But I think I like comedy the best though. :3

Mine would be comedy and action/fighting.

I guess that's why I like D.Gray-Man and Bleach so much, since both of them are combined with the two genres. XD

STEAMPUNK. By far and away. <3 It's a subgenre, but it best suits my likings. Kind of Historical Fantasy-esque, for lack of a better term. xDD

Fullmetal Alchemist, Howl's Moving Castle (which I would love to pieces if it weren't for SophieSophieSophie) and D.Grayman both fall into that category, so yush-- me loves it. It's always so engaging and charming, and then when you add in a dose of fantasy-- I'm hooked. Pretty much all my favorite manga/anime fall into a similar category.

    Following up would be Mystery, Action/Adventure, and all-out-time-travelling-wand-waving-magic-casting FANTASY. <3 I don't have patience for Mahou Shoujo and High School Shoujo unless they're pulled off well -- usually the MCs make me grind my teeth until I need dentures. @@;

Urban Fantasy is awesome, too. ;0

I like slice-of-life anime the best. It's simple and easy to watch.
I watch Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh. I haven't found another slice-of-life that I liked yet.

there isn't really any favorite for me....it just depends on how "good" the show actually is, but all of the ones I get into are mostly action.....

I have recently become more interested in parodies and comedies like Azumanga Daioh and Gintama, but even though it's more of a demographic than a genre, I'm an absolute sucker for shōnen titles. And the chances of me picking up a title is more than 50% of the usual if it was published in Weekly Shōnen Jump.

Those are all genres that are cool.

    Thanks for posting guys.

Wait... are you talking about genres or demographics? o+o

My favourite genre is probably comedy/romance; such as "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" or "Fruits Basket". I just find them much more easy to get into then some extremely fast-paced action series. Runner up would be Action/Comedy, like "One Piece".

My favourite demographic would certainly be Seinen, which is animanga directed at males older than 17 (TMoHS and Midori no Hibi are some examples). I just find that demographic generally hilarious, and usually pretty fast paced.

My favourites are probably Comedy with a bit of Action in it. I like Romance as well, but not if the entire thing was it. xD

As long as the anime overall is good, I'll watch it. And probably get hooked in.

Mechs, shoujo and anything that deals with the occult, as long as a show has an aspect of any of those, I'll give it a try. It's lead to some of my favorite anime out there.

Shoujo. Magical girl, romance, whatever. I tend to like shoujo.

I do also like mystery/supernatural kinds of anime. I love suspense and if it can keep me on the edge of my seat, I'm content.

I tend to go for anything shoujo... usually the more lighthearted romantic comedies (aimed at younger girls) that you find in magazines like Ribon and Nakayoshi. XD; They're just so cute and fun to read, but can also surprise you at times with deep and heartwarming story lines. But that's just my opinion.

On the flip side, I also love stories with drama/action/mystery/supernatural aspects, and even a bit of horror if it's not overdone. An example would be Vampire Knight, which has a little bit of everything so it's nicely evened out.

Aww, I didn't mind Sophie... even though she was old and ugly throughout most of the film. XD But that made her an interesting change from the kind of female characters you often see in anime (who look like they're only added as eye candy). Her personality was a little bland and she didn't exactly do anything exciting, but since most Miyazaki films aren't known for being really violent, I didn't expect her to go out and kick someone's butt/save the world/etc. :B That's just my view on it, though.

I like shoujo. Anything that ties to shoujo which includes romance, romance comedy, drama, magical girl, etc.

Others I like are supernatural, mystery, action and adventure, slice of life, fantasy, etc. Also I am into some mecha, sci-fi, and sports.

I liked old-lady Sophie more than actual Sophie, strangely enough. xDD As a normal person, she whined about her plainness incessantly, and what bothered me was that.. compared to Howl, who was eccentric, beautiful and an overall amazing character, she was kind of.. anticlimactic. o_o;; Ya know what I mean? I know her plain demeanor was meant to contrast Howl's egotism and flamboyance, but it could've been done in a less stereotypical way. You know, the plain-but-pretty-on-the-inside girl getting together with ths unattainable guy who's seen the faces of thousands of beautiful girls? But we have to remember that this was Hayao Miyazaki's rerendering of an even more stereotypical character. :B

That was my only complaint. Otherwise, the movie was amazing and absolutely GORGEOUS. :B

    ... This was offtopic.

It did remind me that I forgot to mention one of my favorite genres, though. Slice Of Life, which is just completely enjoyable.

In most situations, just insight into an interesting, eccentric life, or something with a lighthearted storyline can make an awesome story. They usually offer believable, sweet characters, too. :33

I like Slice of Life(s). I'm also interested in Horror and Psychological. That's why I like Jigoku Shoujo. It consist of Slice of Life and Psychological + Horror. (btw, Slice of Lifes doesn't mean that they need to have a comedy. Or at;east, I think so.)

Erm, Action and Adventure turns me on, too. Oh and so is Comedy. And Sports, some people don't tend to like sports anime though. :<

I like the Mech genre (but not the supermech genre). Lately I've just been watching Gundam 00, and I've seen a lot of the Gundam series. In my past I've watched Escaflone (s/p), Zoids, Robotech, etc. And i really like the human element to the mech genre. Gundam 00 is just absolutely amazing to me, there's so much drama, and it seems like a reasonable projection of our own future.

True! I thought that old!Sophie added a lot more to the movie, as well, because she seemed to have more energy than her younger self. XD (I loved that part where she was cleaning the castle and threatened to invade Markl's room...) My friend wasn't a big fan of Howl when we first watched the movie, but I personally liked how he and Sophie balanced each other out in the end.

But yeah, I guess it'd be best not to go off-topic any longer. XD I've just been on a Miyazaki kick lately, so maybe I'll start a new thread about his movies soon. I agree, they're absolutely gorgeous and so much fun to watch~

To add something else to the topic, as well, uh... I also love slice of life. :D; I can't believe I forgot to add that to my earlier list. Realistic stories are always fun to read, whether they're dramatic (which is weird, since I can't stand teen drama in real life) or loaded with humor.

My favorite genre is action/mystery. I luffff it <3 My favorite series are FullMetal Alchemist and Case Closed. And I'm realli picky picky when it comes to anime, it takes a lot to hold my attention. That's why I loooove action and mystery, I don't know what to expect.

This is also why I'm not a huge fan of fantasy or shoujo, they all tend to have similar plots. I'm not saying all are like that but the majority are >:
