Definately the Gold/Silver/Crystal series.

With the Morning, Day, Night effect, it made the game fun. Plus, with events happening on certain days, it just made the game even funner.

Pfft... graphics don't make the game, the content does. <.<

For me, it's a tie between FR/LG and G/S/C. G/S/C had that awesome day and night system, but the awesome grahpics and revamped music from the R/B/Y games make FR/LG very entertaining. Not to mention the R/B/Y games would have pwned if it wasn't for that horrible battle system (with Wrap, Bind and Clamp being the best moves around) and those incredibly sucky graphics. Of course graphics aren't the most important thing in a game, but the R/B/Y sprites were just scary. ;-;

Even though the G/S/C games were awesome, FR/LG just have more zing.

I had a hard time deciding what generation i should choice, for now I've chosen for the Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald generation, because with the release of this games, the part "pokemon RPG" had been taken to a new level, with new graphics and new pokemon.

For the storyline, i should chose G/S/C. That games were very good because they contained 2 region's and a longer storyline.

But as we speak, new pokemon games are made with better graphics eg, such as the new "Battle Revolution" game for the Wii. The time will teach us what it will bring..

My vote has got to go to the Gold, Silver, and Crystal series. At the time when Silver/Gold came out, they a far step above R/B/Y. This added to the experience because you were very amazed at the graphics. I really enjoyed the gym leaders as well. Having the Johto region after you beat the Elite 4 was great. I was really excited to go back and beat the old gym leaders.

I voted for the Metal Series because it's the biggest adventure of the lot. I also liked the introduction of the Steel and Dark types (Sneasel at the time was really cool) and I liked fighting the Trainers on the S.S Tidal (was it? I can't remember the name as it's been a long time since I've played it).
But Team Rocket kept popping up all the time though.
