2nd Gen Files Gone Missing

Just thought i'd share today that i found my old Gold, Silver and Crystal versions and went to go play them... and none of the files were there. strange.
I used to play those games for hours and i had amazing pokemon on them but the files deleted? i didnt delete them and im an only child...

The really amazing thing would be if your save file had survived. The batteries supplied were very bad, and thus the ability to hold save files was lost after a short time, as little as two years. See here.

Your internal battery has run dry, it happens over time to all carts, but its worse for GSC because hey had to keep time. I'm very lucky all my cartridges still have their save file except Silver, that means my Red and Blue have survived about 12 years now. The internal battery is changeable though, you just need to look up a tutorial.

Just like everyone else said the battery is dead, try getting a new one.

Red and Blue's batteries will last much longer then Gold/Silver/Crystal's, as they aren't drained by having to constantly keep time.

It's also worth mentioning that when your GSC games can't keep time anymore the battery is starting to die.
