In R/S/E, you weren't given the Master Ball like in previous games. These games, you had to find the Master Ball in the Aqua/Magma hideout near Lilycove City. Were you able to find the master ball in these games, and what did you think of having to find the Master Ball instead of just being given it? Do you wish Pokemon would do this again in the future?

I found the Master Ball and I always make sure to check every area in the game for items. I prefer being given the Master Ball instead of having to find it.

I always check every possible thing for items, so I always found it.

i felt like a genius when I found that masterball in emerald. tbh, its confusing for a kid okay hehe

I remember just sort of finding it in my first play-through of Ruby, just said "Neat!" and moved on. I wish you had to go out of your way even a little to obtain something as powerful as Master Ball in the newer games.

Finding it isn't too bad of a concept because the location where you find it can add implied lore while also rewarding players for exploring. But if I remember correctly you can potentially miss out on it forever if you don't pick it up before the Hideout closes. Although many players enjoy exploring, that's still a rather dangerous design choice for an Item so powerful and rare.
