Fly awaaaay...

Umm... okay?

Anyway, Fly isn't that good in competitive battles because it is a two turn move. By then someone would switch out to Rhyperior. Then it's overkill from there.
 
Nope, its like the worst moves to use in competitive battles. Powerful Flying move, yes, but it gives your opponent a free turn to do anything he wants. Even worse, he/she might Protect that turn. (Assuming that I saw a Staraptor use Fly on Ninjask O.O) The second best HM move is Surf or Waterfall, depending on what you are using.
 
It's definitely useful outside of battle because you can fly to any city without having to walk anymore. Just don't teach it to a Pokemon you plan on using competitively.
