    BATTLEBORN!

The newest offering from Gearbox is on the way in the form of a first-person MOBA shooter. With tons of characters to choose from, each with a unique weapon and a complete skill tree, Battleborn is going to be playable as a team based competitive game, or a co-operative campaign game in the vein of Borderlands.

The story of the game centers around races and factions from all around the universe gathering around the last remaining star to fight against a mysterious enemy that I can't find the name of (I know it's announced though) and compete for the last territory in existence.

I'm personally excited for this game. I love Gearbox's games and this game takes the lessons of Borderlands and fuses them with the best parts of MOBA games. The result is bound to be awesome. So, what do you think? Are you excited? Do any of the characters stand out to you?

I don't know. This seems a little.... janky. It's interesting, but I just don't know if GB could pull it off. I mean, after the horrible Pre-Sequel incident, I don't know if I trust Gearbox with another game.

I personally loved the Pre-Sequel. Plus it was made by 2K Australia, not Gearbox, anyway so it's hardly comparable. All the things I've heard from people who got to play it say it's fun, but definitely not without flaws. For example, I guess that your level resets with each match, so you gain levels in each match, meaning the game lacks permanence. Now, that's not entirely bad considering the kind of game it is, I mean it would be unfair if someone joined with a higher level than other players. I do have to wonder how this will affect the campaign, though.

I hated Pre-Sequel. I loved the story, but the gameplay killed me.

I don't really know how this will work though. To me, you pick between a MOBA and a shoot'n'loot RPG. Mixing the two will be very difficult. You want it to have a campaign, but then you can't let people enter a MOBA environment with out-right better gear than the others, as it makes the game unfair and the point of a MOBA (And the reason they're so competitive) is that it's fair and even. I don't know how they'll pull it off, but I hope they can do good with it.

    Didn't 2K Australia get shutdown after Pre-Sequel?

It was purportedly shut down because of the high cost of running a video game company in Australia, not because of The Pre-Sequel itself. Anyway, this thread is about Battleborn. We can discuss 2K Australia and The Pre-Sequel elsewhere.

    True.

Now, I'm not entirely sure what Battleborn is, to be completely honest. I've seen it called a MOBA, I've seen it called a first person shooter and shoot and loot type game (Like borderlands). Which is it? It can't really be a MOBA and Shoot and Loot at the same time. That would unbalance the idea of a MOBA being completely balanced (If only League could find this.). So, I just don't see how they could merge the two.

This reminds me of the one thing Blizzard was making, but this one is supposed to actually be a MOBA. Idk, the thought of a First Person MOBA is interesting.

Well idk about shoot and loot. Each character seems to have a set weapon that improves by the in match levels. There might be loot for the campaign, but that doesn't sound like it will influence the competitive modes. The characters look like they've been balanced pretty well. Montana is a good example. He has an extremely powerful chain gun, but he's a huge target and moves slow.
