GS.. lemme give you a bit of advice.

Its cool that you want to have all of the types, but Flying isn't a general type, and Ice, Steel, Dragon, and Dark aren't that common.

Also, by the looks of things, you need a few more rules. PM me if you want anymore advice.

(Leave the fire and electric spot open for me... I might want it later >.>)

Yes TurtleKing I'll change you to Steel. More rules are being worked on with the help of BREAKINGBEN.

Guess I'll give this a try with the good ol' Bug type.

    Edit: Progress report!

Decided to start up on Crystal, and picked Kris because, you know, it's Crystal. Grabbed Totodile for my starter, so that my bugs would have a nice Chikorita to munch on, then headed for Mr Pokemon's house. Quick trip there and back, during which I encountered a level 3 Spinarak; made a note to come back and catch it when I got some Pokeballs.

Silver was a breeze even for an untrained Totodile, so I reported him to the police and nabbed the first five pokeballs. With these in hand I returned to Route 30 to hunt for my first bug Pokemon. Which had apparently gone into hiding. Totodile had risen to level 10 from fighting Hoothoots and Poliwags before I finally found another Spinarak, at level 3 again. One Rage attack and two Pokeballs later, Team Bug had its first recruit. I want to catch Weedle and Ledyba in this route too before I advance, so it's time to play the waiting game as they only appear in the morning.

    Pokemon so far:

    Spinarak

    Level 11
    -Poison Sting
    -String Shot
    -Scary Face
-Constrict (Worst attack ever? Worst attack ever.)

Right, the first update of my mono-poison challenge:

I am using Pokemon Crystal for this challenge. Or, to be precise, a Crystal ROM.

Well, I started with Totodile, raised it a couple of levels to get to Mr Pokemon's house and back, and fought some strange guy with red hair who decided to insult me a lot, beating him comfortably. On a side note, how galling is it to be called a wimp by someone who, judging by the fact that his pokemon hasn't actually levelled up, spent the whole of route 29 running away from Hoothoots? I went back to Prof. Elm, and gave some information to the Police about this trainer, using my telekinetic powers to work out that his name was in fact Silver. Well, he didn't tell me, did he?

Anyway, back to the main challenge, and I caught myself a Zubat at the beginning of Route 30, levelling it up sloooooowly (Yay, Leech Life got a critical hit and did a whole 2 damage!) until it learned Bite. Then I dumped Totodile in a PC box, never to see the light of day again, because I am a nice, considerate trainer who really cares for his Pokemon.

Going up to Route 31, I caught a Bellsprout, then ran into a Gastly. Zubat's Leech Life did barely any damage, but managed to weaken it a bit, then I threw my balls at it.

What? Yes, Pokeballs. What did you think I meant?

I then levelled up Gastly and Bellsprout to a decent level, before walking into the Gym, beating up the undertrainers and destroying Falkner with Zubat. I then went up Sprout Tower, and, knowing that this was a place where Bellsprout are revered above all other Pokemon, I kept it in its Pokeball. Wouldn't want it to be traumatised by being worshipped by a bunch of very strange monks after all.

After taking the Flash HM, I wandered down Route 32, beating many trainers, and was given a Poison Barb by a very hyperactive girl, just because it was a Friday. I then got an Old Rod, and used it to fish up so many Magikarp that I was tempted to keep them all and set up a business selling them to unwary travellers for a vast sum of money. Unfortunately, I found out that the guy just before Mt Moon had copyrighted the idea, which ruined my get-rich-quick scheme. So, I fished my way through more Magikarp before I finally found what I was looking for, a Tentacool. At which point I attacked it, got a critical hit and knocked it out, so I had to start all over again. However dull and repetitive catching it was though, it was nothing compared with actually training it. Tentacool doesn't learn a decent attack until level 19, so I had the fun of training it with the incredible power of Poison Sting (Yay) and Constrict (Even more yay).

Eventually Tentacool reached a respectable level and I went through Union Cave, with Bellsprout whipping all before me. Wow, that sounds dodgy. I got to Azalea town, where Kurt assumed I wanted him to make me some balls (Insert obvious joke along the lines of no thanks, I've got two of my own here). However, it turns out that he was too busy rushing off to beat up Team Rocket at the Slowpoke well (so why wait for me to turn up? Think how many Slowpoke you could've saved from the pain and indignity of losing their tails if you'd acted sooner, Kurt!) Of course, things are never that easy, and he fell down the well, paralysing himself for life with a fractured spine. Or at least that's what he said he'd done. I proceeded to beat the Rockets, free the Slowpoke, then it turns out Kurt was clearly just faking it, and wanted an excuse for a lie down. Still, I got a Lure Ball out of it, so it wasn't all bad.

So then it was on to the gym, where I beat the undertrainers, none of whom could cause much damage to my poison type team. Then I took on Bugsy, beating his Metapod with Tentacool eventually, after Supersonic had missed 7 times in a row. I decided to work this out, and that has a 0.3% chance of happening. Nice to see I'm getting the luck with this. Kakuna was easily beaten by Zubat, who levelled up and learned Confuse Ray in the process, then he brought out his Scyther. I used Zubat's new knowledge to confuse it, then used Bite a few times, before realising that it was barely scratching Scyther. So I switched to Gastly, put it to sleep, cursed and licked it. Yay, two badges to me.

Wow, that update was long. They won't all be this long, seriously.

    Oh, and my squad:

:t041: Zubat lvl 19, with Leech Life, Bite, Supersonic and Confuse Ray
:t072: Tentacool lvl 18, with Poison Sting, Constrict and Supersonic
:t092: Gastly lvl 18, with Hypnosis, Lick, Curse and Mean Look
:t069: Bellsprout lvl 18, with Vine Whip, Wrap, Growth and Sleep Powder

First update. It's kind of short but, eh. I'm using a Crystal ROM, playing as a boy character I named Dean.

    Dean's diary.

I woke up at approximately 2:53 PM Friday afternoon. After stumbling downstairs, my mother told me that Professor Elm was looking for me. Giving me my Pokégear, she sent me on my way. Upon arriving at the lab, I was told that my services were wanted. I was to select one Pokémon to protect me on my way to retrieve a "surprise" from Mr. Pokémon. Of course, I picked Chikorita. The journey was rough, but by the time I received the Mystery Egg, Chikorita had grown to level 8! On the way back, Chikorita and I fought off hoards of vicious Caterpie. He needed a rest, so we stopped by the Pokémon Center. When I tried to return to Professor Elm's lab, I was rudely stopped by a boy, who flung his Cyndaquil at me. Chikorita beat it with ease. The boy then ran off without giving me his name. How rude.

Upon reaching Professor Elm's lab, I was asked for the boy's name…I told them Akihiko. It just seemed…fitting. Then, I was offered to keep the Chikorita! After which I was given five Pokéballs. I then crossed back into the route from which I came, where a boy showed me how to catch a Rattata! I wandered around in the grass for a while, until I came upon a male Sentret. He was promptly captured, and named Fig. Knowing there were Rattata, I searched and searched. Finally, after ten minutes of searching, I came across a male Rattata. I threw a ball and caught him, naming him Walnut. After obtaining two Normal type Pokémon, I released Chikorita. Bye bye, Chikorita! After training Fig for two levels, he learned Defense Curl!

    Current team:

    "image removed" Fig lv. 8
    Tackle
    Defense Curl

    "image removed" Walnut lv. 5
    Tackle
    Tail Whip

    Progress On Crystal Rom.
Started off with a Totodile done the usual rubbish.
I then decided to Gameshark a Areodactly because they are Flying/Rock caught it then immediatly deposited my Totodile in the PC Box.
Training Areodactly up around Cherrygrove city till about lvl 7-8ish.

Because the lack of moves Areodactly learns in the earlier stages i should try and get a Geodude,Onix,Sudowoodo, corsola and Larvitar.
Thats if i dont have to cheat as i cannot cheat anymore.
    Caught a Geodude in Darkcave.
going to train it to about lvl 8 now

I will update soon, once I get a conveniant time. I'll edit this space.

Okay I will update the first post. I'll be posting my next update before the weekend is over.

    Dean's diary.

After training Walnut and Fig for a while, I made my way to Violet City. By this time, it had grown dark, so there were plenty of Hoothoot and Spinarak to defeat. We defeated a number of trainers, including a youngster named Joey, to whom I gave my cell phone number. Walnut, who used to be the weak link of my team, had become the strongest. His strength only increased as we ascended Sprout Tower. There were lots of Gastly. None of my Pokémon were suited to fight something they couldn't hit, so we were forced to run from the battles. Upon reaching the top, I was shocked to see that Akihiko was there, and he had bested the master! However, the master saw how my rival treated his Pokémon, and refused to hand over the HM he carried. Akihiko then used an escape rope to leave the tower in a jiffy. Seeing my opportunity, I rushed towards the master and demanded a battle. He, of course, was happy to oblige. His two Bellsprouts and a Hoothoot were no match for my Rattata and Sentret, and the master was forced to hand over the HM. Refusing to use my newly acquired escape rope, I climbed down all those flights of stairs, and was quick to enter the Pokémon Center and heal my Pokémon.

Now that Fig was level 9 and Walnut was level 11, I felt ready to battle my way through Violet City gym. The flunkies were no match for my Pokémon. I must admit, I expected more from a sexy man like Falkner. Walnut creamed his Pokémon. He bestowed upon me his badge, as well as the Mud-Slap TM…Finally! A move that isn't normal type! Upon exiting the gym, I received a phone call from Professor Elm, who told me about the Mystery Egg. I went off to the Pokémon center to meet his aide. He gave me the Mystery Egg! Feeling I had done all I could in this city, I left, coming face to face with a stranger who offered me a Miracle Seed. I have no use for this. We trekked down to the nearest Pokémon center, where a man offered me a Slowpoke Tail. I tried to buy it, I really wanted it, but I didn't have enough money. So, after healing Walnut and Fig, we went into the cave. A man attacked us with his Onix. Fig and Walnut had problems, as nothing they did seemed to damage the rock snake. However, after Fig fainted, Walnut came forth and demolished the Onix. We knew we needed to heal. On our second attempt through the cave, Fig evolved from a Sentret into a Furret!

Finally, we emerged from the dark tunnel and found ourselves in Azalea Town! It was sort of suspicious to see Team Rocket right away, though. For some reason, I walked into this guy's house. He told me his name was Kurt, a ball maker, then proceeded to explain Team Rocket's diabolical plan. Before I could utter a word, he had rushed off to god knows where. I wasn't about to hear about this plan and let them get away with it, so I rushed back to the well as quickly as I could. Much to my surprise, the Team Rocket member was gone! I entered the well, only to see Kurt in a rather painful position. Rather than tend to his wounds, I left him there to die while I fought off Team Rocket. Amazingly, I was teleported back to Kurt's! He gave me a Lure Ball. Having been enough of a good Samaritan for the day, I decided to face the gym. They were all…bug types. Bugsy was nothing, my Rattata OHKO'd each of his Pokémon with Hyper Fang. It was finally time to leave. Oh wait, the second I tried to set foot outside Azalea, Akihiko came running! He led with a Gastly, I with Fig. Thankfully, I had taught the Furret Mud Slap, so he had no problem with Gastly, while the ghost struggled to hit my ferret. The rest of his Pokémon were cake. One or two swift Hyper Fangs did them in. FINALLY, I entered Illex Forest.

…And found myself chasing a duck around some shrubs. Finally, the Farfetch'd found its way back to its owner, who graciously rewarded me with a Cut HM! …lame. I had to find myself an HM slave…so I picked an Oddish, to whom I promptly taught Cut. On our way through the forest, the egg miraculously hatched into a Togepi! His name is now Grape. Though rather useless (Charm and Growl? Ew), he was cute, so I kept him. By the time we reached the exit, he had learned the more useful Metronome attack. Onwards to the next gym!

Whitney was cake. Togepi got lucky and got Sacred Fire twice, and when he was finally defeated, Fig demolished her Miltank.

    TOGEPI... SACRED FIRE... TWICE???

    Lucky..

Oh and GS, I have decided to take Fire. Sorry borax :(.

I'm going to start in a few minutes, and I will be playing on my regular Silver Version... let's hope it doesn't corrupt!

    Name: Ryan (Duh)
    Game: Silver (GBC)

-Started at home and received the PokeGear
-Went to Elm's and chose Cyndaquil
    -NN'd him TY
-Nice Aide gave me a potion (Since it WASN'T IN THE PC... Gamefreak >.>)
-TY reached 10... but I'm still training ^.^
-Found three berries on my way to Mr. Pokemon
-Found a PSNCUREBERRY right next to his house
-Received the Mystery Egg from Mr. P and the Pokedex from Prof. Oak
    -Easily beat ??? (Zach)
-After a lot of Dialogue, I FINALLY got the Pokeballs
-I am making my way to Violet City, Sprout Tower, and my first Gym BADGE!
    -TY learned Ember... FINALLY!!
-After making the long and dangerous trek to Violet, I decided to heal up and instantly take on Sprout Tower, which should be no problem at all for the awesome TY
    -TY evolved about halfway through!
-I was making my way up the last steps... but a Rattata attacked me? Are wild Pokemon SUPPOSED to be in Sprout Tower? Thanx Shadoweagle
-Anyway... I saw Zach beating the crap out of the Elder (opted not to help)... more dialogue and he was gone *poof*
-TY easily beat the Elder with ember and he gave me the (worthless) HM move Flash
-I am training TY to 17 (although he doesn't need to) then I'm going to whoop Falkner and his purple bloo hair
-Beat Falkner... way too easy for the first Gym leader
-He gave me the ZEPHYRBADGE and TM 31 (Mud Slap)
-Elm called me about the Egg, his Aide gave it to me in the Pokecenter :)
-Made my way through Union Cave with minimal problems... the only thing that was "hard" was the level 11 Onix in the beginning
-As soon as I exited the cave, I decided to train a bit. I found my old friend Hiker Anthony and wanted to battle him. He sent out Geo and I sent out TY. I ember'd him and he rock threw me, leaving me with only 21 HP left! I did another ember and KO'd the little bugger, and then prayed that he didn't have another one of them or else I would be doomed. Lucky for me he sent out Machop and one ember took care of that. I really need another Fire type for back-up >.>
-Talked to Kurt... <insert ball joke that has already been used earlier in the thread>
-beat Team Rocket... piece of cake upside down
-Kurt gave me one of his balls... (>.<) and I gave him an apricorn to make another... (Wow, this can become the biggest inside joke ever...)
-Uhm.. OH YEAH! Beat all of the trainers in Bugsy's Gym, TY still is dominating
-I guess its time to face and cream Bugsy...
-Yup, as I predicted, it only took three embers to beat him. He gave me the HIVEBADGE, TM 49 (Fury Cutter), and... money?
-Now its finally time to catch me an HM slave (oddish >.>)
-Beat Zach (Again...) with the awesomeness of TY
-*Sigh* Well, sorry TY but you will have to be my cut slave for now. I couldn't find anyone else and I didn't feel like waiting until tonight to find an oddish...

    TEAM:
    Quilava (TY) L: 24 HP 69

    -Quick Attack

@ the sprout tower comment: Yeah, that's where you get gastly early on.

Well, I somehow managed to mess up the time data in the real-time clock. Yeah, real smooth of me. Since I wasn't very far I decided to just start over; bug challenge take two!

Got Totodile, whupped Silver, yadda yadda Sentret... and Pokeballs again. Whee. Since it's morning when I get to Route 30 this time I decided to leave Spinarak off my team and catch level 4 Ledyba, level 3 Caterpie and level 3 Weedle. A veritable army of grunts. Spent more than a little time ploughing up and down Routes 30 and 31 to train the new Pokes up to a respectable level. Managed (eventually) to get everyone to level 10, which was my cue to enter Violet City and dump the unwanted Totodile in the PC system. Next up: Bellsprout Tower!

    Ledyba
    Level 10

    -Supersonic

    Beedrill

    -Poison Sting
    -String Shot

    -Fury Attack

    Butterfree
