3rd Gen Gary a member of team rocket?

    Hello. I just finished saving the Silph Co.building from team rocket. There I battled gary who after the battle told me that I was ready for boss rocket. Next to him was one of the hostages who told me he was happy to finally meet someone that was not in team rocket (Note that he was telling me that I was the first. Not that he was happy to meet Gary)).

    But why is he telling me I am the first not rocket guy he meets when he is standing next to Gary?

    And why was Gary standing in the middle of Silph Co. without getting attacked by team rocket? And he appears to be able to get out of the building without getting attacked too.

    Also in G/S/C he takes over Giovanni the boss of team rocket's gym.

    That made conclude that Gary was a member of team rocket and a very important one. Maybe an excutive.
     
    Its real simple. If there was a follow on from g/s/c many people would think that Gary will become the leader. Its because many people found links to him. THe gym should be took by rocket but no it was gary. This must mean he is relationed with him its no other way. Not explained in the game for some reason.
     
    Well I don't believe that he is in any way related to Giovanni.

    If gary took over the gym I quess he wouldn't go around telling that he took it over from Giovanni. Instead he probably spread the rumor that it was empty and unused.

    And the anime have nothing at all in common with the game's storyline or characters. It looks the same but is not the same. They're two different things.
     
    Although it is known for a fact that Gary isn't in Team Rocket, you do bring up some points about how the scientist says you're the first non-Rocket member he's seen. Perhaps a translation error? Perhaps he just didn't like Gary? Or perhaps, it's that it is a game and no one you meet uses logical sense?
     
    I think there isn't any relation between Gary and Giovanni (or Team Rocket). Even if Gary is the rival of Ash, they are at same side, two of them are "good" persons but Giovanni is a "bad" guy.
     
    Or by gary telling you that you are ready for the boss is an idication that y you beating him(and you should all know Gary being cocky)Then he's sayiing hey you can beat me then you can definately beat the boss.

    As for the taking over of the Viridian gym, that can just be a fluke.he lives just right below it, and Gary will look for any challange that comes his way.it could be just training for him.

    And it is true that it is not known if gary is part of Team Rocket, but it's also not known if he isn't.
     
    But it cab be decieving.I mean that would give it all the more reason for them to do something like that, don't you think.Gary's sister was never really in the game.But I think it would lean more to him being a member of TR.

    Well..........

    I guess he is not connected with team rocket since 1)in Manga Sabrina, Lt. Surge kidnapped Prof. Oak and I dont think Gary would want his grandfather kidnapped. XD. 2) the episode before the last episode in Kanto journeys(anime) Gary helps Ash defeat Team Rocket using his Nidoqueen.
