Hi everyone. The name is Hocker. I'm a Gen 1-er who got back into the game a month after X/Y came out because I worked at a GameStop where my co-workers were big fans (And because I worked there, I was able to borrow cartridges that were traded in...so I was able to transfer over a bunch of old legendaries and get a full pokedex). I've spent the past year-and-a-half re-immersing into the game and trying to catch up my knowledge after only having played red/blue.

I've gotten HEAVY into breeding. Most of my breeding stock are in Premier Balls, but I catalog other "special ball" females that I acquire in wonder trades. I breed for egg moves, and I especially work for rare ones...though the ORAS move-tutors made some of my work feel like a waste of time. And, of course, I have Hidden Ability females where it is worth it...or just to have them for the option's sake.

I'm looking to participate with the community more than just the passive way that is built into the game. I'm looking for egg-move trades, I'm looking for battle experience, and I'm looking to spread the fruits of my breeding work.

Heyhey! I still have my Game Boy Advance Wireless adapter myself, straight from Pokemon Leafgreen and FireRed. But like you, I've started with the Gen 1 games too! Specifically pokemon Yellow, then went on to play pokemon Blue, just to see about their different difficulty (because you know how the levels skyrocket in pokemon Yellow? yikes). At any rate, I'm glad to hear that you've been trying to get back to it; the games are pretty fun from Gen 1!

Breeding pokemon is awesome; I've gotten into it myself, and I do love the results! So yeah, if you want to discuss breeding, or if you would like to trade pokemon with others, why don't you visit the Trade Section? As the name implies, you can have trades there with fellow PC members, and they're all pretty nice. :3

We have plenty to do here on PC, where members are sure to help you out in whichever from you like! We can even help you with battling over on the Battling and Team Building section, if you choose to check that place out! Otherwise, thank you for stopping by, and I hope that you will have a magnificent stay here~!

And welcome to the forums today! I'm Robin; it's very nice to meet you! Take care, and don't hesitate on contacting me or any other staff member if you have any questions or concerns! Hope to see you again really soon. <33

Awesome to hear you're getting back into Pokemon! And welcome to PC as well Hocker!

I didn't exactly start with the 1st Gen games, but actually 3rd Gen so I was still in the "retro" era even if that was when several fans were leaving Pokemon behind. If you're into breeding stuff, Robin mentioned our Trade Corner section which has some great breeding services along with loads of shops and other threads for trading Pokemon. Battling & Team Building is also there for competitive battling, and maybe even take time to visit the Showdown server.

Robin covered everything in one go so not much else I can leave here, but I'm still here if you ever want to chat directly. Either way, have a great time around here and catch you soon!

Welcome to PC, Hocker! I'm not far behind you with owning link cables; I've got two stowed away in a tinbox with my GBA and Gold, Silver and Crystal. Actually have two kinds of link cables now that I think about it; one is black and is a basic one-to-one lead, whilst the other is a techicolour nightmare featuring up to four links.

Interesting to hear about a Gen. 1 fan jumping back in with Gen. 6. If you're ever up for reminiscing about the old time-y Pokémon games, I'll be around! In the meantime, yeah, as Robin mentioned above, you should definitely check out the trading section, and in time maybe you could even open up your own shop. :)

Hey Hocker! Welcome to PC! It's great that you came back to playing Pokemon when X/Y came out. It seems as though those games were good motivators to get people back in the Pokemon mood. So if you got back into it when X/Y came out, were there any games that you skipped? Also what a great way to abuse your Gamestop worker powers! I didn't even know you were allowed to do that, although in hindsight that should have been obvious to me.

Breeding Pokemon is fun although it takes a lot of time and patience that I honestly don't have. I go crazy after a while of biking back and forth, so I usually don't breed as often as I'd like to. :P Since breeding Pokemon seems to be your thing, you should check out the Trade Corner. I bet you could help a lot of people with Pokemon they're searching for and perhaps you could even open up your own trade shop if you want!

Anyways have a real good time here and I hope to see you around!

I still own my link cable, and Pokemon green, it's not that big of a deal...
    Welcome!

Welcome to PokeCommunity, Hocker! I stopped playing Pokemon for 10 years myself in Generation III, then went on a binge last May and played all the games from Generation IV onward.

Be sure to check out the Trader Corner if you're looking for hard-to-find egg moves and hidden abilities. Some of our more seasoned breeders have been keeping collections since Generation III! I'm a Dex Completionist myself (708 caught out of 719!) and have had the pleasure of obtaining some really hard to find stuff. So if you're stuck on a move or ability, feel free to drop me a line.

Also, I can't recommend the Battling and Team Building subforum enough. Come check out The Prism League if you're interested in 6v6 stuff on ORAS and X/Y :)

Yeahh I breed so much in Pokemon, tons of extra eggs sitting around that I try to hatch and wonder trade away.. otherwise my PokeBank would be filled with things. xD;; Seems like a lot of people have returned to Pokemon thanks to X/Y too so I'm glad seeing you're one of them, especially since those games were super amazing. Welcome, Hocker! :)

Looking forward to having you contribute to discussions around here. Trades, battles, forum games, clubs, and what-have-you are all here. Have a blast!
