germaphobe

I'm not a germaphobe as in afraid of germs... but I do hold my breath when people cough, and can't eat if I haven't washed my hands first, etc.

Yesterday, I saw someone go to the bathroom, flush the toilet, blow his nose with toilet paper, and then leave without washing his hands... Then he went and ate tacos. I just can't comprehend how anyone can care so little about germs... I mean dude, you just stuffed other people's penis-germs up your nose, and then got them all over your food. Even if you don't get sick, that's just really nasty.

I'm a huge germaphobe. Like QK, I hold my breath when other people cough but I won't let go until they walk away. Usually it's a customer so it doesn't take very long, but if it does I always turn my head to breathe and then the second they're gone I step out from behind the counter until I'm satisfied the cloud of cough-germs I've imagined is in the air has passed.

If someone is coughing and gives me cash, I take it gingerly and put it in the register and then the second the customer is gone I run out the back and wash my hands. If I touch anything in public that could be germ-affected I won't put my hands anywhere near my face until I've washed them.

It all started when I was a kid and saw stuff about meningococcal disease on the news. That thing freaked me out so much and because it's a disease that's carried in saliva, if anybody so much as talked too close to me I'd have to excuse myself to a bathroom and go spit everywhere. Then if I started getting a headache at any point I assumed it was meningococcal disease and start panicking. Then my germaphobia grew from there.

I don't do that anymore though haha, I've been kissing people etc since then without freaking out so I think I'm at least a lot better in that respect, but still yeah I don't like germs :P

SR, I am going to buy you one of those hazard suits that people wear whenever there is a contamination breach or whatever.

[PokeCommunity.com] germaphobe

Best present ever to be honest.

As for me, I'm probably in the middle ground. I like things to be nice and clean but I don't go overboard with it all.

My kitchen is wiped down everyday I get a chance with anti-bacterial Clorox wipes. Legit. But that's as far as it goes. Must protect the food.
When it comes to everything else, you'd think I invite germs to live with me.

i wouldn't call myself a germaphobe...
i mean, definitely i am hygiene and health conscious, but i'm not obsessed with making sure things are clean or whatnot.

Exposure encourages resistance. I don't make a point of especial hygeine consciousness.

I don't really make too much of a fuss over germs. Part of it is the whole 'exposure encourages resistance' thing mentioned by Cassino above, but it's also equal parts ignorance of the worst that germs can do, and also apathy at the thought of having to do lots of stuff like wipe everything down all the time and carrying hand sanitizer around with me. I just can't be bothered to do all that stuff!

Although, for me, the 3-second-rule is precisely that. None of this 10-second-rule malarkey! (*coughLightningcough*)

It's the 5-second-rule for me!

I'm not what one would consider a germaphobe. I embrace it! Okay, well I don't actually embrace it, but I don't fear it either. Which seems to be working out well, because I've gone quite a few years without getting sick. I just usually keep myself clean and my living space clean. I can't be bothered carrying around sanitizer with me or running scared from people who may be coughing or sneezing nearby. If someone around me is sick, I try to keep an appropriate distance away so I don't catch their germs.

Something that really grosses me out though are those who use the bathroom, but don't bother to wash their hands after. I can't.

I care, but not enough to like...smother Pledge on everything.

btw, just so all you 5-second rule people know, it's worse to leave it on the floor for five seconds. It actually should be the minute rule. We did a test on this in my biology lab, and more bacteria appeared on something that fell in the floor and stayed for five seconds than if it stayed for a minute. And this was tested by more than one group too, with the same results. Soooo...

I dont care that much, at least no excessively but I wash my hards often if Ive been outside or around a lot of people or something like that just to be safe, I just hate getting sick and I nearly always get the flu, which I dislike so I try to avoid that as much as possible.

I wash my hands a lot. Whenever I come home or even touch money, I make it a necessity to wash my hands. I don't eat stuff off the floor, partly because I'm worried dirt or hair might be on the food and I might eat it. It's not too much of a germ thing.

I'm more conscious about my cleanliness when I'm at work, because I deal with customer's food. I don't want to contaminate anything.

As for at home? Not particularly. You'd think my paranoid personality would make me a germaphobe, but I honestly don't care as much. idk why. I still shower and wash my hands and use bleach when I deem necessary; it's just not as common as it is when I'm at work.

I almost never eat anything off the ground, though. Just ick. There are veeeery few exceptions to this.
