4th Gen gold to firered to diamond?

my friend insists that you can connect gold to firered, so you can then migrate pokemon from you r gold/silver/crystal games. is this true?

Uh, Johto starters appear in Emerald after completing the Hoenn Pokedex but you can choose only one. A much less annoying method is getting them from Colosseum and XD where you can get all 3 of them there.
