Ground weaknesses

Why is Ground weak against Water? Shoudnt the ground absorb water?

Er... O.o Well...who knows, really O.o Maybe water just washes ground away? Erosion, anyone? Or, maybe it makes it all mushy and soft ^^; Oh, oh OR... well, actually, that's all I got XD

Why is fly effective against grass, now THERE'S a question! ^^; I understand bug, I understand fire, I even understand ice, but FLY???
