Like? Dislike? Live up to the hype?

Having not actually played the game, I'm not in a great position to talk. However, I have seen the negative effects Halo 2 has had on the whole gaming community. Now the world is infested by a new breed of gamer: the Halo fanboy.

They have infiltrated the ranks of professional reviewers, and with the single-minded perspective of "Halo is teh roxorz!!!!!!!!!!!!111111oneoneone" they bring down other games. And this really pisses me off. Just look at GoldenEye: Rogue Agent. IGN's review mentioned Halo *8* times. EIGHT! WTF? Note how the User reviews are always higher. Half the users give good scores, half bad. How many FPS gamers, do you think, are halo fanboys? I'd say half is a good demographic.

    I rest my case.

meh...I played Halo 1 a couple of times and i'm not impressed. It really added nothing to the FPS genre other than the second weapon, but I'm pretty sure that was done before.

I hate having to talk to Halo fanboys. I mention how cool I think Metroid Prime 2 is, and they come from the other and of the room like, "Metroid is teh gh3y nintendo fanboi's Haloo. Halo is teh r0x0rZ. Bill Gates is God!!!11"

Halo 2 did, in my opinion, live up to the hype. As for the fanboys, it'll stop in a few years unless another console FPS tops Halo 2. It's like this with every other FPS that's good except for Metorid Prime for some strange reason. They have these little cults that act like Halo fanboys. It's just that Halo fanboys have spread out passed the cult and into the world. This is how the gaming world works. So right now it's Halo, soon it'll be another FPS.

I like Halo 1 for PC more cuz I MP much! :D But maybe Halo 2 for PC will be better then the XBoX version ^^ I own the XBoX version of Halo1/2 and I don't really like playing them on XBoX alone.. I like to MP more :D

I think Halo1/2 is the most overrated FPS ever created XD
How I so agree on that. People went ballistic over something that's been done on PC for so long. Halo mainly attracted people because of its shiny graphics. :| It's the same clich? FPS that's been around for ages.

Of course people went ballistic because Halo brought that PC feeling on to a console. At that time and still true today, no console FPS can compete with a PC shooter. PC shooters ruled all. Halo was the best thing they had on a console to compete with the PC shooters which is kind of pathetic because compared with PC shooters, it was average game. But, compared to other console shooters, it was the best ever made. Halo 2 still holds that true today. That's why there's some much hype about it and why PC gamers can't understand why there is a hype with this average game.

HALO2 is basically the same to HALO for me -_-
Although HALO2 had a very crappish ending :(

Yeah, the graphics of Halo 2 look alot like Halo 1.. Not much has changed ^^ I like the multieplayer of Halo 1 more though :) (I don't play single player :P)

I've really had good Halo/Halo 2 experiences. Halo 2 has been especially fun for me in multiplayer since I'm able to play Halo 2 with my friends on their big screen TV. Not to mention the great multiplayer levels Halo 2 has. Overall, I've simply had a blast.

    Clearing something up:
That crap about Halo being the "best" FPS ever is total BS. That kinda junk mostly comes from immature diehard fanboys. However, it is the XBox's best FPS, so it is (XBox) hype worthy.

    Halo 1 didn't have the 2nd weapon option. o_o
Meh, you probably ment Halo 2 anyway.

It has been done before, but that's not the point. You weren't able to wield two guns at once in Halo 1, so it's not hyped because people see it as some breakthrough, but because your actually able to do it in Halo 2. That's why so many people are all hyped up about it. (Mainly XBox fanboys)

I hate having to talk to the "I'm right, your wrong" type of fanboys. Personally, I'm a Nintendo fanboy, but I still play & enjoy games on other consoles.

I wouldn't even compare MP 2 & Halo 2. The peeps you talk to about video games are way too partial. o_o

    Yeah, *cough*Brittany*cough*PSP*cough*

I haven't played Halo or Halo 2 (got a lot of people shocked in my school when I said that =/), and personally I don't plan too. I'm not the biggest fan of FPS, and if I want to play one I'll go paly Unreal Tournament or Goldeneye (go Oddjob hehehe).

I mean I don't see what the big deal is. Looks like another Unreal Tournament or Half-Life or <insert monotous kill everyone in sight FPS here> with a different hero and slightly different plot.

Oh and Halo 3 is supposedly coming out next year. =/ You just pump out new versions of titles that are popular, don'tcha Micro$oft?

I played halo1 and Halo2, i was more impressed playing Halo1 than Playing the 2, i am raelly dissapointed

I thought they were both actually good. But what I like aobut Halo was the gameplay and Halo 2 I liked the graphics but if they put them together then I would really like the game. But othewise they're both great.

Reason why everyone was more impressed with 1 than 2: Everyone was expecting a severe improvement over the first one which already set the graphical standard on the XBox. The second one had many improved features, such as dual-wielding certain weapons and new vehicles, but graphically, it does look the same, or to be more specific, similar. But there are lots of games like that, new features same graphics. I personally would recommend it to the true FPS Fan. If you are a true FPS Fan, you will like it.

I haven't tried it yet,but i didn't like the first one,so i'll rent it first and see if i wanna buy so i'll give it an ehh.

I've played both games. Halo 2 is better IMO. In the multiplayer u can use energy swords and use banshies(sp?) in Halo 2. I'm actually impressed that they made the game "game of the year" supposively.

I enjoy the Halo gmaes but that just maybe I like anything in the future with aliens. But i like the grphics and the storyline and it did live up to the ype.

I like them yes, I've always preferred console to PC and this set a console FPS standard. Am I a creepy fanboy? By no means. They're enjoyable, yes, but I still prefer to boot up the N64 and play a game of GoldenEye, despite having 33 pages of glitches for it. I think the creepy fanboys were the ones most dissapointed by it, they were expecting the impossible: Perfection. What'd they get? A good game, but one that was overall, quite samey.

At our last cult meeting, my friends and I sacrificed a small GOAT! ^_^ -_^

    *Ahem*

Halo 2 is a great, solid game. The single player was a serious let down, but the Multiplayer keeps me coming back for more everyday.

But, I also own a GameCube, and hopefully I'll be getting Metroid Prime 2 for Christmas! :)

(I do my best to not be a fanboy of anything... Except for Alias. Cuz, Alias just plain rocks.)
