Hi, I am new :) I am a 20 year old female from Australia. I am kind of new to Pokemon too.. during the worldwide craze I thought it was just some stupid thing for little kids. In fact my mother was terrified my little brother might get brainwashed by the 'pokemon menace' so I made up this great parody of Pokemon with him [Pukemon] I still think it's funny... I saw about 3 episodes of the cartoon and was not overly impressed but there was something very appealing about the Pokemon concept which I tried to deny to myself at the time. Anyway about a year ago I was downloading a gameboy emulator and I was trying to download some games. But all the ROM links were broken. I wanted to test the emu was working so I just thought I'd download any old game. Which happenned to be Pokemon Red. It started up, and yes I'd established the emulator was working, but I thought I should play it for a 'few minutes' since I went to the trouble of downloading it. I was soon transfixed by the game and soon realised it was 4am!!! After a few days I discovered my favourite Pokemon which I'd heard of, Ninetails, was only in Blue, so I downloaded that instead, I played the game on my computer for about a month but then assignments and things came up and I reluctantly had to put Pokemon on the backburner.... I never did finish Blue... but when I finally had time again I saw that Ruby and Sapphire were about to come out! So I downloaded the Sapphire ROM and the same story, spending all night on the game :) but after a few weeks I had to stop again :(
Finally a few months ago with the release of the GBA-SP a real gameboy was much more appealing [I like the backlight...] So I bought the gameboy and Sapphire. I'm really looking forward to the Fire Red/Leaf Green/whatever for GBA so I can 'finish' blue/red! I even found a way to play Pokemon which isn't 'wasting time', I do walking for exercise at the same time as I play the GBA :)
Anyway right now I have just got all 8 gym badges but haven't battled the Elite 4 yet. I'm hoping I can pick up some tips here about better strategy etc. for the moves to put on my Pokemon etc. Oh yeah my favourite Pokemon are Raichu, Vulpix, Ninetails, Arcanine, Meowth and I've grown quite attached to Swampert and Charizard.
