I tried it once on Moltres and i couldnt understand it...

Fire Spin (in RBY) is a move that damages every turn and makes your opponent's pokemon unable to move while the attack continues. You cannot choose any other attacks as well while the until the attack stops.

also toxic sucks in RBY as it's mechanics are different, and double poison damage doesn't happen after they switch out.

Also Frost using Fire spin completly stops any pokemon from hurting you, and you can switch out without them using a move.

It's called predicting. Plus, if you're trapping and you switch out the opponent still won't move for that turn which means free switch ins for 0 damage
