3rd Gen Hoenn - Home to the best Pokemon of any region?

    Declaring my bias right away, Ruby was the first game I played, and as such love many of the Pokemon from Hoenn. Despite that, I (as objectively as possible) think that Hoenn is home to the best selection of Pokemon available in any region (excluding future iterations of regions that added more Pokemon, like HGSS and ORAS. These are just some of the Pokemon that I think make Hoenn the region with the best Pokemon:

    All 3 Starters (Torchic, Treecko, Mudkip)
    All 3 Final Evolutions (Blaziken, Sceptile, Swampert)
    Gardevoir
    Flygon
    Altaria
    Milotic
    Salamence
    Metagross
    The 3 Regis
    Latias
    Latios
    Groudon
    Kyogre
    Rayquaza
    Jirachi
    Deoxys

    How objective is this? Do others feel the same way or does everyone have a region they feel has the best Pokemon?
     
    Stat or design-wise? For me it has always been a tie between Kanto and Hoenn. I love all generations but for me those two just have the largest amount of Pokémons I absolutely love. So for me, it's a yes.
     
    I wasn't a huge fan of gen 3 when it originally came out as it changed quite a bit from gen 2 (Which is my fav gen) and gen 1 but after playing the gen 6 remakes I fell in love with the region and it is one of the better regions and Swampert/Mega Swampert is prob my fave starter after charizard
     
    I've thought about it many times and always come to the conclusion that Hoenn was the best region because of its Pokemon, region layout, and uniqueness.

    Just speaking on the Pokemon of the region, imo the designs are awesome, we got a bunch of interesting typings for the first time, best set of starters, two good pseudo-legendaries, and one of the top legendary box trios.
     
    Hoenn is also my favorite region, despite RBE not being the first games I played.
    I think Hoenn has the best pseudo legendaries of all regions (Metagross and Salamence) - strictly design here, I don't really battle competitively -, legendaries are amongst the best ones (Kyogre is possibly the coolest legendary ever) and the starters are also all big hits.

    So yeah, I agree. But we're all obviously heavily biased in this post haha
     
    I feel like Unova has the best Pokémon. Hydreigon, Chandelure, Galvantula, Scolipede, Whimsicott, Excadrill, Lilligant, Sawsbuck are just some of my favorites. I don't think I like that many in Hoenn.
     
    I like several Hoenn Pokémon (Camerupt and Sharpedo mostly), but most of my favourites come from Gen 4, such as Abomasnow, Electivire, Magmortar, Drapion, Froslass and Infernape.
     
    I love most of the Hoenn designs for the most part. I'm probably one of the few people who like the Swalot line lol

    My main criticism with Hoenn Pokemon is so many of them are slow, frail, mixed attackers (Seviper, Cacturne, Banette etc.). Difficult to use them viably.
