Well, following the current pattern of 2 Versions, Third Version, and Remake, there will mosti likely be remakes of Ruby And Sapphire in Gen 5. Personally, i think this would be awesome to see an updated hoenn.
    Any other opinions?

Nah, wait 'til sixth gen at least. We don't wanna be overloaded with remakes.

It would be after Gen 5, but don't expect that to start for a good while since HG/SS are so recent. It'd have to be a different system too. At this point with the pal park and all, in DPPtHGSS, there isn't much of a reason to remake Gen III yet (as it is, Gen IV implemented pretty much all the legendaries minus Mew, Celebi, and Jirachi...actually this is statement of mine is most likely wrong somehow)

My prediction is that in the new region in the 5th gen, they will let you travel back to hoenn after the league, like they did with kanto/johto.

I would sure hope not. I really don't see the point in remaking everything? The old adage goes "If it's not broken, don't fix it."

I would play em, because hoenn is what got me into pokemon games. I'd like to see a game where you start out in Kanto, Then go to the johto league, then leave behind all pokemon except for your starter, and head to hoenn, then sinnoh. I'd like to see more anime-based locations and gameplay, and alot bigger more detailed areas, with maybe better eye candy graphics, in the anime the locations are so cool and detailed, i wish they would do that for the games. I think it owould be cool to make a game based on the anime, where you have travelling partners, and do alot more sidequests(filler episodes). But thats just me.

I feel like as of now Hoenn isn't outdated enough for them to make a remake. Maybe by the time the 5th generation comes out it will, but for now my answer is no.

Most people hate Hoenn, me included; it won't be a popular remake series and not only because the originals are modern-looking enough, but they'll probably do it anyway.
The fact Game Freak makes remakes anyway is a clear show that they're running out of ideas, which is funny since if they made an obvious to-do: a PC-based MMO, the franchise would likely see a resurge in popularity.

    Most people hate Hoenn, me included;

Most people hate hoenn? Thats very general; I love it when people on here try to speak for the whole community.
If "Most People" Hated hoenn, there would be no advanced tv series, and no emerald. Hoenn is part of what breathed new life into the series, it got alot of new people into it,
I agree that some of the pokemon look incredibly stupid, almost bordering on neopets, but it was a good storyline and region, the locations are so much more detailed and deep, the climate and locale spans a huge range, which made it incredibly interesting to alot of people. While I prefer Johto over Hoenn, R/S/E were fun as heII.
If they remake the games, people will play them. They will make money.
I agree that the pokemon look too modern to be remade now, but we're talking about gen 5. in 1999, Red and Blue looked too new to be remade, but it was 2 gens later that they were sorely outdated, and FR'LG came out, which prved to be very successful, and look at how excited people are about HG/SS!
Bottom Line is that if they remake hoenn, fans will play it, and nintendo will make money. If there is money involved, a corporation will always do it.

    cheers

I agree there should be a henn Remake, but I really don't want any more remakes after that.

It's scary enough thinking that there would be a Sinnoh remake in this pattern.

I think what they can do instead of remakes is make game suited for partable game ssystems, like a DS version of Battle Frontier and of Pokemon Rumble.

I just think that portable dominates home systems.

Right now I just want to get my hands on HG/SS first and play it for months. Then I'll start thinking of the Hoenn remakes. That would be kool IF they do cause they should make a Wii game of the Hoenn region! lol

The logic makes perfect sense, but if you put it in context of time then it still sucks. IIRC, the difference between RBY and FRLG is ten years, and the difference between GSC and HGSS is nine or so. Hoenn was released in 2003 so I think we will have to wait about three more years or so before it's even reasonable to expect it. I don't think I'll be playing pokes by that time =/

I didn't particularly enjoy Ruby or Sapphire but Emerald was alright. I think a remake would be ok but tbh I'm wishing they'd port orre into a ds game. Not the actual game, but the region.

I don't know. I mean RSE was pretty good but only because of its starters and some of the new pokemon introduced but I really hated that map. All that water routes made me feel like throwing my GBA at the wall. All those tentacool were sooooo annoying and finding the correct dark patch to use dive on just so I could go to the mountain town was really boring.

Depends how long it will be before the next gen comes out, which I think would probably be in 2011 or 2012, with a remake (if there will even be one) a year later. But by the time everyone has gotten through HS/SS and in to the 5th gen games, I think a lot of people will be ready for a remake of hoenn. I'm sure there will also be 1 or 2 spin-off games before it too. It'd be good to see it updated in a few years.

Most people don't like Hoenn? If that were true, they wouldn't have continued on with Advanced Challenge, Advanced Battle or Battle Frontier. They wouldn't have made more then 1 movie of it. Lots of people wouldn't be still re-playing Ruby, Sapphire or Emerald. Sure a lot of people don't like it, but a lot of people don't like kanto, jhoto or Sinnoh.

Hmmm I wonder what the 5th gen will be like?

I hope not. Hoenn was the worst region of all in my opinion. What a let down that was after the outstanding Johto.

well it will take about 2 years before they are released anyways, but I would absolutley love them. I would love to see real jungles, a more detailed enviorment when you dive underwater, and it would be off the chain if they kept the water waves feature. IMO hoenn was the most adventerous region of them all. yes johto was good but I think hoenn is a bit better. I could see how the water routes can get on peoples nerves, but that can be fixed in the remakes (if they are going to be remade, ie: add more islands). And if they do decdie that RS is going to be remade, then the 3rd gen will probably will be the last for remakes. They already fixed problems with DP in platinum so I see no need for a remake for those.
    Im getting all excited just thinking about it :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Slow down there, I didn't say everyone; stop touting that anti-generalisation tripe.
My statement is coming from the numerous polls I've seen in the past, with enough replies to encompass most of the active members of this board. If you have a considerably larger show of opinions that says otherwise, please do present it.

It's possible, but don't expect something like it for a long time. Just imagine how long it took for a Jhoto remake!!

To all those who said that Hoenn was a failure, that is just an opinion based on your view and mind. Besides, the remake of it could be outstanding. Who would knows? We would just need to wait for it.
