    I was watching a pokemon episode I had on a blank tape. I had no idea Tate, one of the Mossdeep gym leaders. Was a guy. I thought he and liza were sisters. But they areh bro. and sis.

    Now why is Tate dressed like a girl????
     
    I felt the same way, why is Tate dressed like a girl, I thought Tate was a girl as well!

    Maybe it's a translation error, maybe Tate is a girl in the Japanese version!

    Airazor from Beast Wars was a Male in Japanese, but female in the North American version, and Mainframe (a Canadian company) developed the show, so the Japanese screwed it up! O_o
     
    In most english versions of anime they make most gay characters females.

    In the english version of Inuyasha Jakotsu is a female where as he was gay in Jap

    But maybe Tate was controlledh by his sis to dress like a girl.
     
    I thought the same too. I thought Tate was a girl too by how he was dress. Still it won't be the first time 4Kids change the gender of a character since Atia from the Legend of Thunder was made into a guy in the dub.

    Jakotsu was male in the english version also. If I remember correctly, they called him "He".

    I knew he was a guy, who names a girl "Tate"? it sounds more like a guys name.

    And doesn't she call him her brother in the game?

    Ah yes...back when I was a little PC n00blet I thought you were a girl for like... few days. Because I didn't bather to notice the gender info....
    I was just all 'Hey, blue font, and a female avi and signature!'.... ^^;
    Yes... I'm guilty of that. (I'm sorry!! ^^;; ))
    Then again...I had someone think I was a guy once... ^^; They did the same thing as me, and didn't notice the gender.

    Seriously though, I never thought Tate was female.

    I think I remember Lisa calling Tate her brother in the dub, didn't she?
    I mean...its kinda obvious he's a male...he sounds like a male... and I didn't really think he looked female....
     
    I never knew it though that Tate was a guy, since I don't watch the shows I just play the games it's what I thought. But now I know it's very wierd...
     
    I believe Tate's name in Japanese is "Fuu", but I'm not so sure. Either way, "Fuu" is a masculine name the last time I checked. Also, Tate's a boy, as clearly shown, in the manga.

    But then again, I might be wrong on the translation part.

    Anyway, in the dub, I could have sworn she called called him brother, at least once.
    Also sweeties, you can tell Tate is a guy. just compare his eyes to his sister's.

    I've only heard Fuu in reference to females... but then again, it means 'Seal'. so its nothing that HAS to be a girly name... oO

    See I never read the manga well, the part on Hoenn...

    See only thing I know on Hoenn is the games. So I judged him based off apperance. I thought he was female. Based on looks.

    Yes I beat the part on Mossdeep before I saw the Dub with Tate and Liza. So sue me!!!!!
     
    I thought Tate was a girl only before I heard his name in English was Tate and heard his voice. As for crossdressing, he isn't crossdressing. He is wearing clothes that are not gender specific.
     
    Exactly... their clothes just looked like fancy Japanese/Chinese outfits...
    They don't look like they're suppose to go with just one gender...
