So I've been meaning to get a decent pair of headphones for... well, a few years now. I've never really had the money, so I finally decided to compromise on good and cheap and got a set of Sennheiser HD 201s for my birthday last week after reading about them on the linked site. They arrived recently, and I just got home and tried them on a few minutes ago. Started up some music, and the first word that came out of my mouth was the title. It sounds wonderful; I can hear the base (bass?), where I couldn't hear it at all before. It's not perfect, but it's a hell of a lot better than anything I've ever used in the past (read: store-bought cheap crap and whatever I could find). There's even noise canceling and everything. I'm not usually one to advertise, but even after just two minutes, I'd recommend this to a hobo with $30 and no food over the food.

Well, that's good for you. How does it compare to the Sennheiser HD650?

I normally use my speakers, so I normally don't miss out on bass. I love it when bass is as noticeable as it should be.

No clue. Like I said, I've been using crappy store-bought stuff for years now, and most of that have NO BASS AT ALL. I even had a set of earbuds I bought one time as a replacement for some broken headphones; those things produced the worst sound I have ever heard. It was like it was transmitting through a tin can.

These things, though, are quite awesome, and I love them. <3

hahha, i believe that actually, virgin blue headphones are the worst ever headearphones...
but i'd like some awesome ones like yours :3

Eh... I've loved the sound quality on a particular $15 pair of Phillips headphones (can't remember the model) that's meant for use while running. They have amazing sound quality for a $15 pair of headphones... problem is that the behind-the-head band breaks easily if you're not careful with them (I went through 3 pairs in 2 years because I used them so much and got careless with them).

Interesting thing was that each new pair had better sound quality than the last pair, and had a better quality sound and comfort level than pretty much anything else available on the shelves nearby, even some $80 pairs.

I'm a sucker for in-ear headphones, with the rubber bit that sits in the ear canal. They seem to give brilliant bass and they cut out external noise. The only thing is finding a durable pair - it's not easy.

Always remember your equalisation, though. It can make a huge difference when you need to compensate for low base.
