This question refers to not necessarily pets, but animals in general, and your views of them. We see animals almost everyday, but sometimes we take them for granted. They might not always be around, and are we really doing our best to help improve their lives? For example, if you saw a seagull with its foot in a plastic bag, would you really try and remove the plastic bag? Or would you just leave it; and assume that it could fend for itself, and somehow get rid of the plastic bag itself? That is just a hypothetical question, but should show where your general views are regarding animals. How do you treat animals, also comes into consideration. For example, (yes another bird example), when you see crows, or any other type of bird gathered together in your way, do you try and make them fly away, or walk around them? Simple decisions like those can reflect your views about animals. Each animal should be treated with the same respect, and only being friendly to one kind just shows you're a little shallow. This brings me to the point of this thread.

    Stealing Nick's format.

    1. Do you view any animals as companions, or do you see them as creatures put on this earth to supposedly coexist peacefully with other humans but not yourself?
    2. If you saw an injured animal, would you help it by taking it to an organisation which exists to help injured animals such as the RSPCA - or leave it where it is, assuming that it would get better naturally?
    3. Would you be fine in a world without animals?

I see animals as companions, especially my parrot, who I try to talk to (like, not a full in depth conversation) from time to time, and even wild animals, I don't know, I just want to make them feel included or something - I just try to be nice to them in general. For example, there's a dove that decided to nest underneath our carport, and occasionally I just check whether to see it's okay. I feel more of a connection with birds and dogs than any other animal, though. If I saw an injured animal... it would depend on what I'm doing at the time, and whether (because I assume I'd be walking) there's a shelter nearby. If there was one close enough, and depending on what type of animal, I'd try and help it. Although when I can't do anything about it, and I see an injured animal, I feel really bad for it and when I see people trying to hurt it, I just feel worse. And, I wouldn't be fine in a world without animals. I love them, and I can always interact with them, no matter what. The world is a better place with animals, because when you see things such as tiger cubs being best friends with a bird (well, not saying it's happened, but something similar), it just makes me realise that there's actually good in the world, and that it's expressed through animals.

Some animals are made as companions to humans due to their ability to be tamed and all. Other animals are purely wild, and can't be tamed. My belief is that animals that are tamed should be helped, and animals that aren't tamed should be left alone. No animals should be put in suffering for no valid reason.
    2. If you saw an injured animal, would you help it by taking it to an organisation which exists to help injured animals such as the RSPCA - or leave it where it is, assuming that it would get better naturally?
I would leave it alone, since it's not really my business. Besides, chances are it'd run away from me, and I couldn't do anything about it if I managed to get a hold of it. Let nature be~
    3. Would you be fine in a world without animals?
    No. What would I do without meat, without pets, without any other life but humans and insects? D;

    1. Do you view any animals as companions, or do you see them as creatures put on this earth to supposedly coexist peacefully with other humans but not yourself?
I view domestic animals as companions. Some animals live with human beings as companions. Some animals and human beings understand eachother and even share relations as great as family bonds. I have a pet dog and I love feeling his presence. I don't see the reason why animals can coexist peacefully with others but not me. Some animals, though, are meant to be in the wild.

    2. If you saw an injured animal, would you help it by taking it to an organisation which exists to help injured animals such as the RSPCA - or leave it where it is, assuming that it would get better naturally?
Well if it was really badly injured, I would take it to a vet if one was nearby. If it was only a small injury like a small cut, I'd leave it alone because it would eventually heal naturally. It depends on the situation.

    3. Would you be fine in a world without animals?
Do the animals you're referring include human beings? I suppose not because even we wouldn't exist to be fine. Animals help us to exist and vice versa. We wouldn't be able to survive without animals.

    Humans are animals
    Humans are animals
    Humans are animals

    1) I don't sit my dogs down at the table with me and I realize we don't share the same intellectual capacity but I still see them as individuals I share the world with. sometimes I resent this mentality and I know it makes me look like a hippie but that's how I see it.
    2) I've tried to take such matters into my own hands before, but for serious injuries I would certainly contact professional help
    3) I'd manage just fine

    1. Do you view any animals as companions, or do you see them as creatures put on this earth to supposedly coexist peacefully with other humans but not yourself?
Pets would be considered companions if I weren't deathly allergic, but as for some random deer on the side of the road... not so much a companion.
    2. If you saw an injured animal, would you help it by taking it to an organisation which exists to help injured animals such as the RSPCA - or leave it where it is, assuming that it would get better naturally?
Depends on the animal. If it's a pet, I'd have to contact someone to take care of it, as I shouldn't be handling them myself. Wild animals... I'm not so sure, especially if I spot them on the side of the road. I don't think it would be worth stopping just for that.
    3. Would you be fine in a world without animals?
No hamburgers? No way. No cute kitty commercials on TV? No way.

    1. Do you view any animals as companions, or do you see them as creatures put on this earth to supposedly coexist peacefully with other humans but not yourself?

Any animals including humans are equal to me.

    2. If you saw an injured animal, would you help it by taking it to an organisation which exists to help injured animals such as the RSPCA - or leave it where it is, assuming that it would get better naturally?

I've actually nursed a bird's broken leg before. I try my best to help.

    3. Would you be fine in a world without animals?

Of course not. Everything needs something else.

    1. I've had pets, but the funny thing is that I was more their companion than the other way around. I had friends and other people, but for my pets I was practically their whole world.

    2. I've helped rescue an injured hawk before. It's wing wasn't moving right and it was hopping around the ground. I think it had been hit by a car. A friend and I drove 45 minutes to bring it to a bird rescue center. I was holding it in a shoebox stuffed with cotton so it wouldn't get jostled around in the car. The people there told us that it wouldn't be able to go back into the wild because it couldn't fly well enough to hunt, which was sad, but at least it was alive and being taken care of. It would probably have died if we hadn't helped it. I could have "let nature take its course" but it wasn't nature that would have killed the hawk.

I couldn't tell you how many stray dogs I've seen. I'll try to stop and if the dog seems friendly I'll look for a phone number on their collar since friendly dogs usually have them. If the dog is mean I walk away. I've been bitten by dogs before and I'm not going through that again. My safety is where I draw the line.

    3. I'd adapt. It's not like I eat steaks and chicken wings.

    1. Do you view any animals as companions, or do you see them as creatures put on this earth to supposedly coexist peacefully with other humans but not yourself?
I see them as companions. Well, not all animals. I dont see insects as companions, or fish either really.

    2. If you saw an injured animal, would you help it by taking it to an organisation which exists to help injured animals such as the RSPCA - or leave it where it is, assuming that it would get better naturally?
I'd help the animal myself if I could. But if it was serious I'd call something like the RSPCA.

    3. Would you be fine in a world without animals?
Uh, I could live in a world without thinks like ants, spiders and flies. But nah, I couldn't.

    1. Do you view any animals as companions, or do you see them as creatures put on this earth to supposedly coexist peacefully with other humans but not yourself?
I see a=dogs, cats and most commen house pets, snakes, lizards etc no

    2. If you saw an injured animal, would you help it by taking it to an organisation which exists to help injured animals such as the RSPCA - or leave it where it is, assuming that it would get better naturally?

I would help it no matter what unless its on water near water by water or its dangerous

    3. Would you be fine in a world without animals?
    NO!!!!

    1. Do you view any animals as companions, or do you see them as creatures put on this earth to supposedly coexist peacefully with other humans but not yourself?
Companions. If they were to be our companions, then they wouldn't be as inferior in terms of intelligence.
    2. If you saw an injured animal, would you help it by taking it to an organisation which exists to help injured animals such as the RSPCA - or leave it where it is, assuming that it would get better naturally?
It depends. Even though rabies does have a cure, I still don't want to be bit by a rabid dog. But if it's something like a pigeon and I know it doesn't have a disease, I'll help it out.
    3. Would you be fine in a world without animals?
No one would. The ecosystem would collapse without insects, among other things.

    1. Do you view any animals as companions, or do you see them as creatures put on this earth to supposedly coexist peacefully with other humans but not yourself? They are my companions. Heck, there's a few times where I've befriended a crow or two with a constant food source.
    2. If you saw an injured animal, would you help it by taking it to an organisation which exists to help injured animals such as the RSPCA - or leave it where it is, assuming that it would get better naturally?
Actually, if I could, I would take care of it fully by myself (if it were something like an abandoned bird or rabbit). If it were a larger animal I would call a local organization. Leaving it there pretty much means it's going to die.
    3. Would you be fine in a world without animals?
No, considering I eat them regularly :x

I love animals of any type. I view them as companions and treat them with respect because they deserve it as
much as we do. I've actually helped raise several animals that I've found injured and released them when they were ready. I'm sure I didn't do it as well as professionals would but it's worth a shot considering what my town would do to them. And a world without animals would be terrible. I can't imagine how dull the world would be.

I think people's attitude towards animals is pretty hypocritical. People can get so upset over the treatment of animals, but if it's not cute, nobody cares.

Most our lives are pretty detached from animals, so the only point I'd like to press is out of respect for the life of the animal, don't waste the meat.
