It usually takes me around forty hours to beat most Pokemon games, so a little on the slow side compared to the average player but not significantly so. I like to take my time with exploring everything, but I generally know what I'm doing well enough to not need to spend a lot of time on grinding or team reworks, and I rarely if ever focus on Pokedex completion.

In a first playthrough? Probably average. Checks out some encounters for new Pokemon. Will try out whatever new mechanic briefly. Remains pretty objective-oriented, though.

In a repeat playthrough? Varies. Aims for speed in a multiplayer-ish setting and for Archipelago randomizers (solo or multiplayer).

Stands a higher chance of EV training, outside of that. (Requires a fast and/or low effort means of doing so, however.) Wants whatever weak/underrated Pokemon currently being used to perform well. Rarely fights a battle without hitting the level cap. Spent 6 hours, 50 minutes to beat the first gym leader in the recent Diamond challenge, for example (with some time inefficiencies). Likely only picks a fight sooner with decent victory odds and no good leveling methods available.

Went with average.

I got out of my way to talk to every NPC, read every sign, and battle every trainer. Also takes me like 30 minutes just to come up with names for the protag and pokemon. Though, I usually play with the speedup function for gens 1 to 3.

Usually on the slower side of things for a first playthrough. Not quite "I literally have to comb every square millimeter of the game" levels of slow, but there's little reason for me not to interact with the world a good bit.
Subsequent playthroughs though, those go a lot faster since I'm usually just aiming to beat the game and am already familiar with things about it, which cuts down on time a lot.

This seems like a great MRTR question 👀
For me I'm between fast and average I think. On a replay definitely in the fast. Initially I start out reading things and exploring but eventually, I find, I become less interested in the world so instead head towards objectives!

I usually land at 25 hours on any subsequent playthrough.

I'd say 20 hours for reaching the elite four and 5 hours for any elite four preparation/grinding.

Average, I suppose? I'm not trying to get through the games as fast as possible. But I definitely feel like talking to most NPCs doesn't really add anything to the games. Especially in the first couple generations NPCs mostly just break the 4th wall by explaining game mechanics. Or they have some meaningless one-liners. :(

How quickly I finish the game from the day I started a new file depends on whether or not I'm switching between other games at the same time. My play time doesn't usually get particularly high as I mainly focus on just getting through the game and don't really interact with a lot of the NPCs besides the ones that I know give you items like TMs for talking to them.

I'm normally a very slow player. Wandering around, catching random pokemon, etc... Sw/Sh and SV adding random stuff to pick up that constantly respawns just has me running around picking up every sparkle. :) 40+ hours into Scarlet and I beat the gyms, did Arven's quest and now and just wandering around again

I voted slow. I will go everywhere I possibly can, fight every trainer I can find for money and exp and pick up every dang item I can find.
My most recent 2 playthroughs are type based and I shiny hunted quite a lot in them as well, because apparently I was still going too fast or something @_@

I selected "slow", since I generally spend a good amount of time exploring every nook and cranny, as well as often taking breaks to engage with side-modes like contests. On average I'd say it takes me 25 hours to get to the credits and 40 before I'm done with the playthrough.

Very slow. Like 40 hours in gen II to beat the champion, and I think for gen 7 it took 30.

I'll admit, until the time of writing this I had no clue as to what could possibly be slowing me down so much, but besides the fact that I DO check every corner and talk to every NPC, I like to keep all my party around the same level, so whenever I catch a new pokemon I want to use, I focus on grinding levels for it by fighting NPCs while using that mon, which makes fights take a lot longer than they would if I just used my starter to blast through. since it's usually wayyy low leveled by comparison.
Basically I play most fights with a ~10 level difference, and do a lot of backtracking.

Still, those were some fun 40 hours! I guess that's what matters :DDD
