I posted this test on LTT and on the RHM IRC, and so far all of the results I have prove it quite difficult. The average score is 58%, so why not share whatever you get?

Basically it's a mix of Information Technology questions and Computer Science questions, 25 total. They're all rather basic in the scheme of the field say you were studying for it, and you should be able to get most of them right if you really know what you're doing! The highest score is from our friend Mat at RHM, who got 80%! :D

Not too bad for a guy who can't even CSS. I got all the hardware stuff right, suffered on the programming languages. Also, Windows referring to mebibytes as megabytes rightfully pisses me off when a "4GB" USB stick just doesn't cut it.

as expected almost all the questions I got wrong were hardware related. not surprising since I guessed on most of them, quite lucky to even come up with that score tbh.

64%. Would have been 72% if I had been thinking straight on the first two I messed up on. Probably would have done better if I were actually still in school for this stuff. A lot of this isn't useful in a Sysadmin role or gets shoved to the side in favor of learning how to use ERP software.

Comments regarding my results inside the spoilers:

Question 1 I basically brain-farted on the standard's actual name.

Question 7, I was thinking of the CPU fan power connector and not the mobo connector. Pretty big difference in the number of pins on either of those connectors.

Question 16, my initial choice was right, but then I thought "nah, that's gotta be too obvious" and changed it.

Question 17 I guessed at and apparently guessed too small? Didn't realize so many people used such a large resolution now.

For Question 18, I had no idea about what MacBooks are composed of as I rarely deal with them and have no personal interest in them.

For Question 19, I had never even heard of the terminology used and have never come across an OS that didn't refer to them as Megabytes and Gigabytes.

For Question 21, that's more me not having dealt with how RAM clock speeds work since, well, finishing my A+ back in high school 6 years ago. Haven't really had a need to be terribly concerned with the rate at which it is actually operating at while working in the field since then.

Question 23 was a programming question about OS X, which I know very little about, and I just guessed on that. Apparently my second choice would have been the right choice.

Question 24, I just guessed at the name because, quite honestly, I had never heard what it was referred to as since I had always just been dealing with the functionality from the practical support side of things rather than actually learning the terminology for it. My first guess would have been right, but I thought, as I did on Question 16, "nah, that's what the folder's actually called, that's gotta be too obvious, Microsoft is far from consistent with naming conventions".

Programming related questions were my biggest issue, I knew the more historical/hardware related questions quite well.
