How to Eat Ice Cream with a Plastic Spoon

Ok, so I fill my bowl with ice cream and I only have plastic spoons to use on it. But when I go to dig into the bowl to eat, the plastic spoon snaps in half. Is there anyway to eat ice cream with a plastic spoon without breaking it? Well, besides the obvious, waiting for the ice cream to melt a bit. I don't wish to have a soupy mess, so that idea is out. I need a way to eat it with a plastic spoon while it's still hard.

Chip away at it. Find a likely point to start and then chip smaller pieces off using the spoon...carefully. Or buy better quality plastic spoons...or use a metal spoon. You could also hold the spoon further down the handle, so it's more like using a scoop.

Experiment. Let your imagination run wild. You'll either find a way or run out of spoons and be forced to eat it with your bare hands...or start a thread about eating ice cream with a fork.

My first thought would definitely try to invest in better spoons if you're breaking the ones you have. It's worth it in the long run.

But if you're set on using those spoons, then you better start trying to shave ice cream off the top, at least until it's soft enough to actually use in the manner intended. You don't have to wait until the ice cream is half melted, just have to wait enough for it to not be any kind of rock.

When I am having trouble scooping mine I will run really hot water over the spoon to heat it up making it easier to cut through the ice cream. Though this is with a metal spoon so idk how well it'd work with a plastic one :( Maybe ask a neighbor for one?

Plastic spoon breaks in half? Not to worry. Just keep eating the ice cream with the spoon-half of the spoon. Problem solved.

Or just let the ice cream melt for a bit before digging it. That works too.

Well when I make my own icecream pops, I pour icecream into large freezer cubes or plastic cups and then I put plastic spoons into it.. so then when I put it back into the freezer, the next time I want it.. I just crack out a cube or peel away the plastic from the cup and the spoon acts like a popsicle stick and I bite away at the icecream.

That's how I do it :3 I also like to make my own icecream with mashed banana and frozen yogurt and fruit or a banana with a touch of espresso. It's fantastic :3
