    When the new millennium hit the world, we were all confronted with a new way to pronounce the year. In the twentieth century, we were accustomed to the separation of the first two numbers from the last two. It was "nineteen ninety-four," not "one thousand nine hundred and ninety-four," for instance. With the 2000's, all went back to simply speaking the year as the number was read.

    With the new decade's arrival, there has been a split in the correct way to pronounce the year. Is it "two thousand (and) ten" or "twenty ten?" With media, teachers, and even your friends saying the year differently, which way will stick with you? Will you say "twenty ten," or will you follow what has been for the last ten years and say "two thousand ten?"

    Two thousand and ten~

    And type it as 2010, I'll have to type two more numbers ;_____;

    Definitely two thousand and ten.. saying twenty ten just sounds really odd as well as butchered in my opinion.. :/

    I'll probably take the easy route and say each number individually.

    Two zero one zero.

    Twenty ten, most definitely. I don't even understand why the last ten years weren't said as twenty O [number].

    I'm leaning toward "twenty-ten".

    I like how it sounds. But, I don't know if I'll stick to that convention for the whole decade. I like "two-thousand-and-eleven" more than "twenty-eleven"

    This. I can't stand people who say 'twenty ten', though I have no reason for it. It's a pet peeve and besides, I'm very slow to change.

    Even though I like the sound of "twenty ten" much better, all I've heard thus far is "two thousand-ten." Hate to be conformist and all, but I'm gonna go with what everyone else is saying - It'll just be easier that way. Seems people are just stuck in their ways and prefer to pronounce it that way for no real reason.

    At least, that's how people are saying it around here.

    Has it been different for you all?

    According to the media here, it is pronounced as 'twenty-ten', so yeah it sounds cool and better. xD

    I did pronounce 2009 as "two thousand nine," but 2010 is "twenty ten" for me, I guess.

    Probably because the graduating batch of my friend was named "twenty ten," so that's what I call it.

    I'll probably say ten. lol.

    The real problem I have is writing it. I bet I'll use 09 in all the dates I use for the next month. :(
