When the new millennium hit the world, we were all confronted with a new way to pronounce the year. In the twentieth century, we were accustomed to the separation of the first two numbers from the last two. It was "nineteen ninety-four," not "one thousand nine hundred and ninety-four," for instance. With the 2000's, all went back to simply speaking the year as the number was read.
With the new decade's arrival, there has been a split in the correct way to pronounce the year. Is it "two thousand (and) ten" or "twenty ten?" With media, teachers, and even your friends saying the year differently, which way will stick with you? Will you say "twenty ten," or will you follow what has been for the last ten years and say "two thousand ten?"
