This is terrible, with the majority of Louisiana flooded, many remain missing and thousands presumed dead. My heart does go out to every one who has lost someone or something. Bush said that this is the worst natural phenominon in US history...(I may have butchered it but its still the same message) Gas prices shot upward across the nation because one of the nations reserves in Louisiana were flooded completley and the oil is now in the water. The Gov said that there are lots of dead bodies and that they won't get to those in time, this could cause disease...this left me awstruke.
I knew Katrina would be big but hey I live in Minnesota what do I know about hurricanes? What are your reactions and your thoughts?

well, I was shocked, I saw a satelitte image of the hurricane and it was massive!
I fell sorry for all those people who have lost their homes and lifes.....:(

u can say that again. my house is flloded.I'm using the Libraries computer. Where am I gonna sleep tonite?

*lives in Louisiana* Oil is up too, most of the men here work on oil rigs offshore and we?re forced to come in during the storm, they let my brother come home at the last minute. >< We didn?t get hit as bad where I live, we lost electricity for a while, and we had rain but the wind didn?t tare as much stuff up. New Orleans got hit the worse, since it?s below sea level, it?s completely flooded, and a bunch of buildings collapsed, or caught on fire. The residents there wont be able to return home for at least a month, they declared Marshal?s Law there too, and there was a lot of looting by the people who stayed in the city. The superdome where they hold football games can hold 100,000 people, and it?s full up and has become a storm shelter, so has another arena near where I live, a lot of people are in town, and they have a ton of donation drives going around. Bleh, it?s a mess here. ><

This really hits home to...I always kinda considered America "invincible" for some stupid reason, because natural disasters rarely ever happen here...Well, just goes to show nothing's safe from God...

woops, did I say God? My bad >_>

Why is this in Announcements? All current affairs things go in OC, no matter how bad they are. Tis very bad though.

    Moving on up...

They had to move everyone out of the Superdome, because the roof was leaking and they transfered them to San Antonio.

Well since i live in florida it just passed us in miami,it did rock us and knock out or power for awhile but its all okay for the time being.I feel bad though cause my sister lives there with my father and its a terrible feeling have when you know a family member is in danger.

What else is there to do?When worse come's to worse you have to do what you have to do to survive.

Man...This stinks...caught wind of this today by my mother telling me a story...sad and depressing...

The hurricane was the worse I've been in, that's for sure. As far inland as the Jackson area, I felt winds at hurricane force...our neighborhood was lucky, but on the other side of town...*shudders*

My family from there is up here with us indefinitely. Their insurance should cover the damages done to the house, but still...all their stuff is gone.

Yeah, it's really bad in New Orleans. I wouldn't be pissed at people looting if it was just for essentials...but people are looting crap they don't need! That really makes me mad...

On top of that, gas prices may have a permanent change. Who knows, gas prices may never run below 3 dollars again, based on the damage the oil reserves in the Gulf sustained...

Ack, please don't say that :(:(:(:( *stabs self*

    WhY! gas WHY!

I wish them most luck, to those in New Orleans...
It's terrible, thinking about how it may never be rebuilt...

I also hope those who died rest in peace~

did anybody anticipate this? i mean... some people got out so that they must have seen it coming. it's aweful that not everybody could evacuate in time. i'd have thought if any of the states were gonna get owned by natural disaster it'd be my california coast... so, california's prayers (well, at least mine and those of others at my church) are with you louisiana.

Don't say woops, your on the bullet with that statement.

This a truly devastating event in American history. The only we can do now help relief efforts, pray for those effected, and give thanksgiving that we are are safe.

Your really offtopic there, and stop flaming.

Well, I happen to like Bush...I mean hes only doing what everyone else in his position would do. There are tons in need of major help, but we just don't have the troops...you know why cause there across seas...75% of soilders who join go into action, and that wasn't the case until the war in Iraq, Bush is only doing what he can. Its going to take years to rebuild and start over, many in fact fleeing. I just saw on the news that citizens of Louisiana are seeking refuge here, and I live in Minnesota.

Well sweeties, I've read all the articles, and watch the reports. I feel so sorry for the victiums, and families who lost their family members. T-T My friend is going to Louisiana to help his family. Thank God all his family members there are all right. I'm gonna some food and money to this. All we can do is pray... ~Jeremy
